The Brothers Gibb! They were very good. Shame about Andy though.. sad smiley I was never a fan of his, but he probably would've contributed well once he was integrated into the group.

Love them, from all eras.

If you're spiritually inclined, maybe put in a good word for Robin Gibb - he's been very ill, just got out of the hospital.

I really respect that they were able to reinvent themselves from their late 60s/early 70s pop act into full blown disco icons. I felt they were a little like Elvis though, they had great vocal talents that could have used a little heavier material.

Unlike Elvis, they are great songwriters and were deeply involved in the production of their records.

I don't know from heavy - to me, "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart" is pretty friggin' heavy, and they were barely in their 20's when they wrote such a world-weary classic.

Better add "Run To Me" and "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart" to that list.

"No Anchovies, Please"

Don't take me wrong. There is plenty of emotion in their records. It would have liked to hear those fantastic voices on some offbeat, challenging material. Something along the lines of Heroes and Villians by the Beach Boys.

Love em...
Funny this thread should start. Dirving in the car last week, heard "Nights on Broadway", then watched Sat Night Fever last Friday with my 11-year old neice...she said,
'There was so much good music back then..'

They preceded the Stones and Hall and Oates with that blue-eye soul in the early-mid 70s...and they did it authenically and effortlessly.

Some gems:

I remember waiting for this song to come on the radio every night.

I saw the Bee Gees in 1989, I remember it as a good concert.

And I saw Robin Gibb solo in 2004, but he sucked!

You're welcome Penguin. I was listening to Horizontal so decided to add a post. Yes they are a great band, just love their harmonies and Barrys voice. I hope Robin will be okay.
