Looks to me as if Abkco wanted a little bit of that Wal-Mart CD business.

Is this a Walmart exclusive product? I wonder if this could be some type of test balloon for an all new Stones album? AC/DC and The Eagles had massive success with new albums that were sold exclusively through Walmart.

Seems to me that Jagger's business sensibility and Walmart would be a match made in heaven

Under their Alan Klein deal with ABKO, don't the Stones get a penny to split between them every time this goes platinum?

40 Licks is, sadly, out of print.

You mean, thankfully out of print.

That tinny sounding, truncated piece of garbage compilation.

It's nothing to do with the Stones. ABKCO/Decca have pushed these things out since 1971. If the Stones are going to tour they're not going out and pushing a package put out of songs they don't own.

Hmmm... you go to to America and buy this collection only to be sold at Walmart, and then fly to Scandinavia to buy HOT STUFF collection that is only sold at Dressmann stores, you will get a nice 'poor man's Forty Licks"... Covers nicely teh whole career (only "Wild Horses" seems to be doubled)

(HOT STUFF collection

01.Start me up
02.Harlem Shuffle
03.Miss You
04.Beast of Burden
05.Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo
06.Happy
07.Angie
08.You got me rocking
09.Shattered
10.Fool to cry
11.Mixed emotions
12.Tumbling dice
13.Undercover
14.Emotional rescue
15.It's only rock'n'roll
16.Wild horses
17.Hot Stuff)

Well, as 40 licks is out of print, it would be a nice way to get all the songs and do a bit of travelling. for those that follow the stones on the road, they're probably used to this strategy!

All of these songs are on Hot Rocks except for She's A Rainbow. What's the point of this?

The KISS album was a bust though. I'm guessing this is strictly an ABKCO/Walmart effort.

Stage set up on top of the walmart, parking lot with no cars just the audience,
stones get the gate, walmart gets the merchandise, they split the refreshments,
do only the 16 songs from this album, two walmarts a day, afternoon and evening.
Historic!
