My son will be attending N.Y.U. in London, and I was wondering , as a student will he be able to have an employment visa? Thank You Very Much!

There are many restrictions for a student visa, employment being one of them. It depends on the specific type of visa he has. Best thing to do is ask the Office of International Studies at NYU or do some research online. You can start here:

A friend of mine was able to work at a local pub in Guildford back in the mid-'80's while we were on a study abroad program.
I don't think he had any special paper work, but he might have been paid under the table - or maybe he was paid in beer?

I am on a UK tier four general student visa, which is probably what he would need to get, and I can work up to 20 hours a week.

My understanding, some years ago, that he would be able to work up to 20 hours per week. Don't take my word for it. Check the immi site as it's there in black and white.

I would recommend to ask the British embassy or consul near where you live.

I think it's 20 hours - and your student visa will be in jeopardy if you are caught exceeding them.

If you go to a university, they are acting as your sponsor and so you need written permission from them to work more than 20 hours. At least, that is what my work told me-but I've never worked more than 20 hours in a week so I wouldn't actually know.
