Yes, never let terror win.

Never change because of one person.

All this killed people. It's so sad.

Easier said than done. Over 90 mothers, fathers, family and friends will be changed forever. Because of one person.

Yes of course. But why should one person "win"?

Because over 90 kids lost their lives. And others. This person accomplished a bombing and mass murder and made out alive. The people of Norway lost a lot, and forever.

I was wrong pointing the finger at the scumbag Muslim terrorists. In any event, my thoughts are with the Moms, Dads, Brothers, Sisters, Cousins -all family members.

I sit here baffled. How on earth can there be a political objective against more or less children? Neo Nazi?? What in the hell is that about??

I heard that the maximum sentence he can possibly receive is 20 years. He'll be out when he's 52. How is this possible?

21 years, since he planned it and xxxx(too lazy to search for the english word, "forvaring" in Scandi(Norwegian)).
Means he will (and he will) get 21 yrs and the possibility to be locked up for life.

Was sitting outside in our tiny garden, where every animals have a name...
Glas of red, thinking of all the mess from Friday till' today...
Then Hugo the Hedgehog comes out from his cave, walking around like he use to for a few minutes...
It stroked me, lucky you. You don't know about the bombs, the kids, Amy.
And not worried if the boys will hit the road and set lists,
I smiled and said to myself... Life is cruel but must go on.

Kill him. (After the trial, etc)

But that's my real thought: Kill him.

Please, don't go there... this is not the place for that as requested by Bjornulf earlier.

My condolences to the family and friends of all the victims, and to the people of Norway. What a tragedy, no words can describe this.

If those thoughts will win, Anders Behring Breivik would have won as self-called "Jucticiar Knight Commander", fighting for death penality etc. back in Norway.:

But Norway will withstand those temptations.

HighwireC:

I understand your sentiments. Let me share some thoughts with you.

Let's look at a different hypothetical case for starters. There is an argument that goes that you can be so stupid sometimes that even if you didn't intend to cause harm and the harm resulted from your stupidity, then you should go to jail for that stupidity.

In Canada once a couple changed their morning routine and got confused. The husband drove to the train station in the morning and parked his car in the parking lot and took the train to work. Because the morning routine had changed he forgot about the fact that this particular morning the baby was in his car (when that was normally not the case.)

The baby died inside the car from the heat from the hot sun.

There is a case where you can be "so stupid" that you have to go to jail.

So in my opinion a complete ban on capital punishment as the policy of a country is wrong in this day and age. In certain cases crimes can be so bad and so heinous and so horrible that there should be a provision in the law that establishes capital punishment for these crimes.

As a hypothetical example, there might be a law that states that if you kill more than five people in the first degree then you die.

You need laws like this to discourage people like Anders Behring Breivik that may have the intent to commit mass murder but would be discouraged to do so if they knew that they would face the death penalty if convicted.

For this monster I would be pleased if the Norwegian parliament would pass a law like this including a provision in the law to retroactively apply it to Anders Behring Breivik.

That monster should die for what he did.

No, the death penalty is not adequate in my opinion. In this case life long imprisonment would be right. Because this man has to live and realise what he's done, and that's an appropriate punishment. He should never be free again of course. Every second of so many days as possible he should be remembered of the horrible crimes he has committed. By the way, on my weblog I've translated Plato's dialogue Gorgias which is also about committing crimes, punishment and being treated injustly. In Dutch of course.
