OT: What about this guy?

Morrissey will release his autobiography in december 2012. "It gives me just enough time to pack all I own in a box and disappear to central Brazil. The innocent are named and the guilty are protected”, he says to Billboard. I'm not really a indie-fan but his integrity and nihilism has some sort of appeal to me. Very fitting for the moral disorder of today. Are there any Moz fans here? Here is a video of his:

I appreciate his solo work but I love The Smiths. Saw him in Düsseldorf 2006. One of the best concerts I've ever been to!

The Smiths were great and I enjoy some of Morrissey's solo output. I caught him at the Brixton Academy last year and he was on fabulous form.

LOVE Morrissey and The Smiths. I see him every time he comes by Dallas. My wife saw The Smiths back in 1986, when all I was listening to was classic rock.
I'm still a classic rocker at heart and Moz/The Smiths are about the only musical thing we have in common!

'Course he did write a scathing song about our boys back in 1989.

Oh, you silly old man
You silly old man
You're making a fool of yourself
So get off the stage

You silly old man
In your misguided trousers
With your mascara and your Fender guitar
And you think you can arouse us ?

But the song that you just sang
It sounds exactly like the last one
And the next one
I bet you it will sound
Like this one

Downstage, and offstage
Don't you feel all run in ?
And do you wonder when they will take it away ?
This is your final fling

But then applause ran high
But for the patience of the ones behind you
As a verse drags on like a month drags on
It's very short, but it seems very long

And the song that you just sang
It sounds exactly like the last one
And the next one
I bet you it will sound
Like this one

So, get off the stage
Oh, get off the stage
And when we get down off of the stage
Please stay off the stage - ALL DAY !

Get off the stage
Oh, get off the stage
And when we've had our money back
Then I'd like your back in plaster

Oh, I know that you say
How age has no meaning
Oh, but here is your audience now
And they're screaming :

"Get off the stage"
Oh, get off the stage
Because I've given you enough of my time
And the money that wasn't even mine
Have you seen yourself recently ?

Oh, get off the stage
Oh, get off the stage
For whom, oh ...
For whom, oh ...
For whom, oh ...
For whom, oh ...

Get off the stage
Get off the stage
Get off the stage

For whom the bell tolls

It was probably about Pink Floyd.

I appreciate Morrisey solo works as much as Paul Weller, Richard Hawley and Elvis Costello works. Nice and brilliant shows but Smiths time was much better. I could see them several times and a fantastic atmosphere was in all their shows.

I like his lyrics. He makes Schopenhauer look like an optimist!

Morrissey is one of the best comedians ever! I suspect much of his act is one big put-on. "Explosive kegs" and all that nonsense.

>I'm not really a indie-fan

I never thought of Morrissey as "indie" -- hasn't he always been signed to somewhat "major" labels?

I liked a few Smith songs, but I didn't get Morrissey's 'mope' act. It seemed very one-dimensional.

The original meaning of the word "indie" is of course independent as in independent record label. But there is also a genre of music that can be labelled as indie or alternative. In Sweden Morrissey is considered an indie icon. Even if he's nowadays contracted to a major label.

As a paunchy, balding, middle-aged guy whose heyday was probably 25 years ago, I love the Moz because he "represents".

Viva la Steve!
