I have read several stories about the dire economical situation lived by Bo Diddley specially in the last stages of his life, mostly due to bad contract management (as if he were abused and fooled by record companies). Sad.

It was a strange "venue", a strange set-up for sure. Yeah - they played a parking lot! The stage was nothing more than a trailer from a semi and the part of the city where they played was relatively close to the Phoenix airport on University Drive just east of I-10.

in Wolfsburg, Germany, by the way...

they played the fillmore in sf at a time i lived in the city, and to this day i still have no recollection as to why i didn't go. i certainly hope i had a very good excuse.
