Pricey.

But worth it.

78 euros is an expensive price but if I was living in Paris,I would have go.
A buddie of mine will be there , he already saw Charlie playing and he said it's worth while.

But adding the train ticket plus the hotel room makes it even more expensive ...

Just came back from the first show. Charlie was in super shape. Always smiling. As I ain't a photograph, I can't post any pics. But one of my family will do as friends. A better show than last year at "The Duc des Lombards".

To-night I went to the New Morning Jazz Club in Paris to attended the ABC&D of Boogie Woogie’s gig. I was at the 2nd show.
Charlie Watts on drums, Dave Green on double bass, Ben Waters and Axel Zwingenberger on piano were terrific. Charlie was absolutely great. He even made some solo drumming.
He has been drumming briskly and energetically on “Chicken shack boogie” and “Rattle shake and roll”.
The set list was mostly different than last year.
Charlie left quickly after the show and signed almost no autograph, only very few ones just before jumping into the car.

I already saw Charlie and Dave several times with the Tentet at Ronnie Scott’s in London and also several times with the ABC&D at le Duc des Lombards in Paris.

Duc des Lombards is a nice venue and well organized; and queues are controlled.
It is not the same at New Morning. They were not able to organize a queue and the messed up the access.
I came to the venue early enough to be in the first row and I could make it, but it was difficult to reach the first row. There was a big jostle at the door.

Years ago I saw Ten Years After (without Alvin Lee) and Albert Lee at this venue. It was less overcrowded.

It is easier to control queues at the Duc des Lombards as it is a smaller venue. It's true that the New Morning could use a gate or two but the walkway is tiny.

Also there was no queue problem at the first show. The main problem yesterday was that the New Morning did not know how to handle the people who attended both shows and asked them to go at the end of the queue... The Duc des Lombards allowed people attending both shows to stay inside.

Charlie did sign autographs when he arrived at the venue and also some as he was leaving the stage after the first set. He even included "Merci" on some! There were just too many people after the second show.

A firend of mine who saw both gigs (at 6pm and 8pm ) told me the 1st show wasn't very crowdy -due may be to the tix price - the show at 8pm was much more rock & roll than the 1st one ,which was more bluesy.
He said that Charlie's playing is really really powerful.
