The most anticipated moment of a concert, for you.

Be it the Stones or any other. Some ideas:

Is it seeing your favorite musician?
Is it hearing your favorite song?
Is it hearing a surprise song?
Is it the encore?
Is it the onstage banter?
Is it hearing Mick or someone else say the name of your city?
Is it lighting that joint when the lights go out?
Is it seeing all the beautiful women all dolled up?
Is it walking thru the turnstile knowing your in?
Is it the sight of the concert stage?
Is it knowing or not knowing the setlist and opening song?
Is it lights out?
Is it the introduction of the band?

For me, it lights out and the tuning as the sound gets cranked. Just the first few taps of the drums and strokes of the guitar strings before the song just starts. Then the opening riff.

Timing when to get to the john during the set and not causing too much disruption.

Yeah!

Well, except for #7 in my case. It's been a long time since I've even smelled weed at a concert.

Stupid me. I'm only there to hear the band or artist plays.

the tension and the excitment when the lights go out (or the intro starts) and one knows: NOW ist starts!
best moment like this was the built up of continental drift on my first stones gig 1990 in frankfurt. it was so unreal and magic. wont ever forget. that short pause, the music starts again and then bummm, here they were...

That wonderful moment when the PA announcer says, 'Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Manilow will be onstage in five minutes.'

Same here.
The few seconds before the very first notes ,when the stage is still dark .
It does it to me every time .

I am a Frenchie ,as Mick affectionately called them in the Old Grey Whistle Test in 1977 .

The B-stage!

Little Queenie... The Last Time... Route 66... Midnight Rambler...

The best part of every show was that little stage. Should've done the entire concert from that little square.

Yeah I agree. But if I'm seeing multiple shows on a tour, that moment of excitement fades, because I know what the song is. I think for me its always been; the first song of the tour, lol, kinda crazy . . . I've only experienced it once however, in Philly 1989; the beginning of that show was probably the greatest concert experience I've ever had.

The online hysteria over a setlist from a show thats still going on from those of us who arent even there....

If there's a new tour the excitement will be (for me) to see one show after another pop up on torrent sites like Dime or HC. This tops a direct concert experience by a long margin. (I know I'm weird). grinning smiley

and when the same people are pissed when someone publishes a copy of a full setlist when the show isn't finished.
They're screaming about not wanting any spoilers although they're not even at the actual show. That's priceless stuff.grinning smiley
