There is only one song in the whole world that can make me choked up and shed some tears. It's in swedish by artist Håkan Hellström and written by the magnificent Björn Olsson.

I don't know who Håkan wrote the lyrics for but for me it's about the love and hope I feel for my little son who is about to turn 1 year old in about a month. So it's very personal thing but it hits the spot.

Well, I would have to agree with you it is a sad song. It has me tearing up and I can't understand one word that he is saying.

I think this was written so people would have something to listen to when they decide it's time to slit their wrists.

I would agree this version is quite sad, only because he is playing it so dreadfully slow.

If you are a rock guitarist, you could speed it up and have a pretty good hit single out of this song . . Just get some lyrics and you are good to go. smiling smiley

Lou Reed's "Berlin" record is not only tear-inducing, it makes you want to jump off a bridge.

Yes indeed, The Kids is just a harrowing piece of music.
Others that can sadden me....Lennon's Love. Stuck Inside A Cloud, Harrison's last single...

Free As A Bird...

Stones stuff doesn't sadden me, at most a meloncholy feeling. Backstreet Girl is a great sad song... As is Let it Loose.

I don't think that I'm able to translate the lyrics but it's made like a lullaby for a baby about the things that will be and come in the baby's life and hope that this life will be a long and good one. It's not cheesy like many other songs written by parents but rather honest and poetic. Very swedish in a way. smiling smiley

For starters John Holm is sadly very underrated!

I'm not easily moved to tears. It's just the song by Håkan that in some way manages to hit the right spot. That said songs like John's and other music like it with an atmosphere have the power to start my "feeling-engine" and makes my mind wander. I can feel sad but in a nice warm way.

Here's a instrumental song by Vangelis that I find sad but very beautiful.

I saw "Cria Cuervos " when I was a kid,and this song left its mark on .

I am a Frenchie ,as Mick affectionately called them in the Old Grey Whistle Test in 1977 .

If you listen to it while thinking about a pet that has died you might never stop crying.

Cripes, what a thread. Well, I hope this one is suitably depressing enough for you.

Just in case anyone is puzzled by this, it's an actor, lip synching to Harry Nilsson's cover of a Randy Newman song.
