I was doing some research through some L.A. archives for something I'm working on and found the shot from a Beverly Hills press conference - I love this image

This is a marvelous shot. It's wonderful that you were able to find this. It looks like Charlie is going through another one of his "I wish I could be anywhere else except at this press conference" moments. Do you have any idea if this might be available as a print or is it just in an archival state?

Great, classy Stones picture. It also reminds us that Brian Jones was indeed in the band and not a rather unimportant backing musician...

Also, Keith's teeth look, dare I say, healthy.

Great picture taken before heavy drug use took it's toll. The boys in there prime.

Excellent observation!

That is way before I recall them entering the scene.

Yeah, I don't recall those lighters arriving until the 70's.

so that would be May 65, wouldn't it - they'd either just recorded Satisfaction or were just about to

This photo is from December 1965, it accompanied an article in the LA Times about the press conference.

Wow!! I was gonna say I don't remember these till the 70's either. Could it be possible that they were available in the UK back then but not here?? (although VERY unlikely)

apparently...yes:

In the 1950s there was a switch in fuel choice from naphtha to butane, as butane allows for a controllable flame and has less odor.[6] This also led to the use of piezoelectric spark, which replaced the need for a flint wheel in some lighters and was used in many Ronson lighters. In 1965 Société Bic launched its first lighter design and in 1998 introduced the child-safety feature, a metal shield over the flint wheel, seen on all modern Bics. Bic lighters are made to be cheap and disposable.[7]

oh how I wish I were a teenager back in 1965, and not a one year old. I would have loved to have grown up in the London area around this time. Anybody have a De Lorean I can borrow?

Great photo, the boys look so good.

Mick's rock, I'm roll.

Here you are, marchbaby....

And that is a great picture, hbwriter. Mick and Brian look as if they are calculating just how outrageous they can be and still get away with it.
