To me it sounds like Brian on backing vocals......especially on the BBC version of this track/sounds like his lispy vocals near the end....

Does anyone agree?

Almost certainly. Brian was the main harmony vocalist in the early days (I suspect it's him on 'Bye Bye Johnny' too).

I think you're right!!..the harmony definitely does not sound like Keith or Bill on Bye Bye Johnny....

Wonder why he stopped singing?

I often wonder why he & Bill stopped singing. Certainly Bill was still on live backing vocals on the first couple of Ed Sullivan appearances, The T.A.M.I. Show & even The NME Poll Winners Concert in 1965, but after that it was Keith & only Keith (& often even he didn't bother, witness the missing harmonies on some 1966-1967 live recordings).

You can hear him sing quite clearly on some early tracks. Live especially. Very rough or smooth depending on song.

... yep, Bill and Brian were the main harmony singers in the way early days -
in the clip of You Better Move On from the Arthur Haynes Show don't they share the harmony?
i haven't watched it in a while. Keith looks bored out of his mind ... and Mick tries to stifle a smile
when a lone shriek bursts out of an audience that had obviously been admonished that no screaming was allowed :E

i love the Rolling Stones

Anyone we might know?

Clips like these make me feel so sorry for the chap that said he could not dig the early
years. Let's have a drink for his lost soul.

Brian shared lead vocals with Mick on Walking the dog, and he had a very distinctive voice.
You better move on is one of the four songs which is featured on the first RS live stereo recording from March 1964.

Here is clear evidence that, yes, Brian Jones played acoustic guitar on a Stones track.

There was a heated debate about this on IORR about a year ago, and there was a claim that Brian never played acoustic guitar on a Stones record.

Oh yeah, I remember smiling smiley

But do we know for a fact that he did? If you ask me, likely.

The only 'proof' that Brian played an acoustic guitar on any Stones track come from the album credits (ABKCO), several of which list Brian as having played an acoustic.

Says that Brian played guitar on 'Aftermath', so why not on 'High and Dry'? Doesn't sound Keith in my ears...

Better get them cleaned out then. thumbs up

Because it's Keith playing 12 string with Brian playing harmonica.
