Stones Misheard Lyrics

Do you guys have any Stones songs where you always hear Jagger singing something other than the real lyrics? I have a bunch of 'em.

One is She's So Cold. I always hear him as saying:

"When you're old, nobody will know
that you was a beauty, a sweet sweet beauty
A sweet sweet BOOTY, but stone stone cold"

I actually like "booty" rather than a third use of "beauty" haha.

Yes,there were some really funny misunderstandings on the threads above and what is even more funny is that even the English native people mixed some lyrics as well.
In this particulat case ,akgameboy, could it be a pun such as "the beauty was Jagger's booty (as a loot or plunder ) or a booty dancer ?

I am a Frenchie ,as Mick affectionately called them in the Old Grey Whistle Test in 1977 .

in rock & roll booty means piece of ass (thanks for expressing it better, snc!)
cf the original lyrics to Tutti Frutti: [en.wikipedia.org]

yes, normally booty means a sweet piece of ass. and not always literally ASS/buttocks....but more
generally (in this case) a hot woman.

IORR............but I like it!

Took me a long time to get the line in Happy about "never got a lift out of Lear jets".

Egypt? What's Egypt got to do with anything?

In Get off Off My Cloud

Sounds like...The Mamas and the Papas were stuck like fags.....In The morning the parking tickets were stuck like flags.

"I just fell in love with a one shot mine" in Just My Imagination instead of
"I'm just a fellow with a one track mind"

In You Can't Always Get What You Want, it sounds like he says "I saw her today at the reception", but he's really singing "You ruined my life, you bitch"

I think a moron example (because he could have done a little research) is Axl Rose singing on Guns N Roses' version of SYMPATHY FOR THE DEVIL: "Use all your well-learned politics," when Mick actually sings, "Use all your well-learned politesse."

One of my all time favorite songs that always makes a shiver run down my spine is "I am Waiting", and i always, always thought that Mick sang "I am waiting, whole year, whole year". and i just loved that sentence. It turns out to be a boring "oh yeah, oh yeah". And since i know now, the song has last quite some of it's impact, so i decided to stubberly keep it to "whole year, whole year".

my misheard Stones lyric goes back to "Get off My Cloud" ... what this then 9 year old heard: "And in flies a guy who's all dressed up just like a union cat." ....

otay ... what the hell is a union cat??? LOLOL

pre internet, I used the think "can't you see the furrows in my forehead" was really "can't you see the full in my void"

made sense to me...and i thought it was a good turn of a pharse--explaining how the walk in the woods filled an emptiness he was feeling

In Street Fighting Man, 'palace revolution' often sounds like 'phallus revolution' to me. And then I wonder if, maybe, Mick meant it to. The dirty fecker.

I always heard it as "never got a look at a lizard," which would make sense if you've lived in England most of your life.

I seriously thought it was "never got a look at a midget" for years.

As far as I know the expression "shidoobee" does not appear in any English dictionary -apart the urban one confused smiley )
Could it be possible that "shi-doobee/sha-doobee has something to do with the word " Shebeen " ?

Maybe it's Jewish as Mick does sing "Schmatter,Schmatter, Schmatter".....Schmatter is Jewish slang for clothes..ie. the rag trade....the Fashion/clothing industry....of course it may be just made up like "Bebopbeluba she's my baby" etc. etc....EddieByword....P.S one of my favourite 'not quite sure if I've heard it rights' is..., I think after Keith sings Happy on Love You Live Mick says " Do something horrendous like that if you can " - I felt (if I'm right of course ) that that was directed at the punks who of course prided themselves on how bad they were musically....re-enforcing Micks comment once that you can't out punk Keith...EddieByword

>> on Love You Live Mick says " Do something horrendous like that if you can" <<

it's "Do the Horrendous to that if you can" -
the Horrendous being the name of one of the dances Keith and Ronnie had invented.
Ronnie explains it in his autobiography. the Horrendous was done lying down :E

O.K. thanks sssoul - I thought he was talking about Keiths singing.....about which someone once said "only his mother could love"...Cheers, EddieByword...PS. I did read Ronnies book but I have to admit I don't rememeber that...hmmm...have to have another look sometime

>> Keith's singing about which someone once said ... <<

whoever said that hasn't got much of an ear, have they. Keith's singing is brilliant -
that's why he's one of the lead singers for the Rolling Stones.

and now back to the regularly-scheduled thread

Could some one tell me what Mick says to the crowd before "Let's spend the night together" on the Hampton'81 show

It's somethin' like this

" Wellcome Hampton ...Wellcome Virginia.....eye rolling smiley ....a few joints...allllll right"

Re: Stones Misheard Lyrics

schmatta: mainly used to describe a cheap, raggedy piece of clothing

according to the Urban Dictionary

We all learned something today.

Re: Stones Misheard Lyrics

>> " Welcome Hampton ... Welcome Virginia ... a few joints ... allllll right"

from memory, it's something like: "... and welcome to everyone watching at home on TV -
hope you're all sittin back drinkin a few beers, smokin a few joints - all right"

the Hampton gig was the first pay-per-view concert broadcast in history - hail hail Rolling Stones :E

and yeah, "schmatta" is Polish-based Yiddish for rag.
in the song it's used in relation to 7th Avenue, which is central to the New York garment industry -
"Fashion 7th Avenue"
