The Greatest Keith Richards Solos

This is how a rock'n'roll solo should be!

LOL. I have always thought that Keith on "Let me Go" in '81 was about as good as it gets.

4:06 and on! Not bad for a "corpse" and a "talentless looper" grinning smiley

From 6:49 Keith is doing some of his best playing ever. It's not much, but it is simply brilliant thumbs up

And don't forget HTW the LYL version.

I love it when Keith goes a bit out of the box, creating lovely solos like this. Sure, it's the blues, but the sound, the picking and the dynamics are different.

+ The trademark run in the ending, right after Ronnie's bass run, is nothing but top class thumbs up

smiling smiley One of the first solos and rhythm guitar playing I was truly amazed by. It's like his hands are heavy, real led fingers, he's slow but cool, a real cheetah. Every note in that song, that version, is directly from his heart and soul.

No reverb, very little sustain, just pure heart, soul and grit thumbs up

Keith's solo on the studio version of Let Me Go resp. on the studio version of Ain't Too Proud To Beg, both short but they fit 100%, hit the mark.

Keith is possessed never seen him play with so much sustain - reminds me of Stevie Ray playing Texas Flood live in Austin.

play the guitar boy

The guitar work on LA Friday and Leeds '82 overall is incredibly great, both by Keith and Ronnie. Those recordings are two unmatched highlights of the Stones history so far (except when other recordings see the light from the archives).

You mean the official LA Friday, right? That one is great for sure. Ronnie is amazing on GS.

Leeds is very good, but there are other 81 shows where they play just as good, imo.

2:07 mark in Little Queenie on Hail Hail R&R to me is the essential KR solo capturing everything I love about his playing. To me the best thing he does that other players don't is FEEL the rhythm and use space in between

It's funny that many fans don't even bother to listen to the 75 SFTD-versions, because there is gold there from Keith thumbs up
