I've always loved the Satanic Majesties album just as it is but I've made comp cd with songs that have that certain vibe from that period and came up with a nice collection. I already know they weren't all recorded at the SMSR sessions.

1 Sing this all together
2 Citadel
3 2000 man
4 Dandelion
5 We Love You
6 She's a Rainbow
7 The Lantern
8 Gomper
9 2000 Light Years
10 Child of the Moon
11 just last the last minute of Sing this all together see what happens
12 On with the Show
13 Cosmic X-Mas

Why on earth would you want to omit 'In Another Land'? It's the 3rd best song on the album (after SAR & 2000LYFH) imo.

My least fave (apart from See What Happens) is probably The Lantern. I've always loved Gomper though! smiling bouncing smiley

Citadel is still one of my favorites. Good album, could have been great, imo.

Amazing and totally underrated album IMHO. It's doesn't beat Beggars Banquet but it's still on my top 3 list of the best Rolling Stones albums.

Between The Buttons remains my favourite, but I certainly prefer TSMR to any post-Sticky Fingers album.

This album contrasts between great and weak songs. I'm a little suspicious to talk of this album, because I love psychedelic rock.... but, imo, lacks something to be considered a great album.

My favorites: She's a Rainbow, Citadel(killer mellotron), In Another Land,2000 Lights from Home(Brian totally shines on that one) and Gomper(insane recorder).

Blahblahblah. How convenient of you to say that. NO appreciation from me for this LP really, just certain songs. Shit album, their second worse after Dirty Work.

This remains one of my favorite Stones albums. Citadel is a classic, and I love most of the songs. Sure, they get carried away with the cacaphony but the melodies were pretty strong.

how about we combine our personal edits of this album with that of A Bigger Bang?

Way too much sonic gobbledygook, but a few good songs in there (Citadel, 2000 Man, She's a Rainbow and 2000 Light Years). Not one of their stronger efforts.

I read such horrible things about it I never considered it worth checking out at all. And then a radio station played it in its entirety (and I taped it because I could) and I was surprised how much I liked it and ended up listening to that tape a lot (and still do) and fell in love with most of the album.

at the beginning I was mostly disappointed, except Citadel which is a good kicker
I thought it was the worst album of the band.
then, it took some time to like other songs like 2000 man, she's a rainbow...

by the lake with lily flowers...strange oniric atmosphere

What about this EP:

1.Citadel
2.
3.She's a rainbow
4.2000 light years
5.The Lantern
6.Gomper

I give up. There arent enought songs. I hade an idea of how they could have put together a cool EP or something. One side rockers and the other psycadelica. The songs lack depth with a couple of exceptions. Compare this litter box to what New Yorker Lou Reed and VU hade already done a year ago, the Doors of California or Jimi Hendrix of the universe. And you know what it's worth. This is shite compared to what other great acts did that year. Sorry.

Lou Reed,Velvet Underground, The Doors(especially),Jimi Hendrix,Grateful Dead are the true shite of the sixties.

1.2000 light years
2.Citadel
3.Gomper (a shortened version)
4.The Lantern (shortened to end after the first horn part)
5.She's a rainbow

They really didnt have enough material to record an album. What a complete difference to the Beggars sessions. It's like Mick felt he had to do psycadelica. Brian plays well but it was he who wanted to back to the roots.

Why even compare VU, Hendrix and Doors to the Dead?? Doors sucked sometimes they were still great.

I was being a little pain I guess. Its just that I hate those I mentioned plus a lot of others. We cant all like the same stuff as it would be so bloody boring I suppose and there would only be one band and we would be sick of them lol.

I love it.

"Sing It All Together (See What Happens)" is shit though. All other songs are interesting, some are masterpieces like "She's A Rainbow" or "2000 LYFH".

There's some good boots around where folks took the 8 CD Box sets of outtakes from Satanic and edited them into one good disc.
