Willie Hale - Little Beaver - almost a Stone?

I once read that Florida R&B guitar player Willie Hale, aka "Little Beaver", had been approached to join the Stones after Mick Taylor left in the 70s. He played on "Clean Up Woman" by Betty Wright among other tracks. Does anybody know anything about this?

Thanks Roundnround. I'm curious: where did you first hear about the Little Beaver connection to the Stones?

He was for shure never really considered. But dozens of names were tossed around then.

In those days Mick J. and Keith weren't very close. Everybody had their preferences.
Keith heard some records and said who's that guy? Should we invite him? The press and musicians made up other names. But most were never really considered.
Even those that came to the sessions were often only invited by one member or Stu.

Perhaps someone had heard and liked Hale and there was some talking - like always with the Stones - but not more.

I think I may have read it in Rolling Stone magazine back in the 70s, but I'm not completely sure... It's been a long time... Thanks for your articles LPM!
