OT John Belushi Died This Day 29 Years Ago!

A huge Stones fan and friend of Keith, John was part of the "Blind Angel" gig in Toronto.
He met his idols whilst working on Saturday Night Live 1975-1980.
Amazingly, the same woman who supplied Belushi with his final "fix" in 1982, also sold to keith from the same batch!
John also enjoyed "relaxing" with Ronnie Wood.
keith mentioned Belushi in a recent interview-
(on doing his gardening) " I felt like putting the bee costume on so i'd look like John Belushi!"
In my honest opinion-despite his failings, Belushi was an absolute 10*star man.

I remember the front page of the paper, with his fat bloated body underneath a sheet on a gurney, and the cliche headline, 'Belushi Found Dead in Hollywood Bungalow'. Very sad. Very Monroe reminiscent.

I was as a production member on the movie 'Wired', from the Belushi biography by Bob Woodward. Dan Ackroyd put a curse on everybody who worked on the film. Thanks, Dan. It explains a lot in my life.

I've read Woodwards book many times over the years. I now have mixed feelings about it.
When I was a teen,(I'm 41 now!)it devastated me, I remember having tears rolling down my cheeks at the end, even though the ending was a foregone conclusion.
As I've gotten older (and wiser?) and on hearing what people who knew Belushi best have said, I've started to question certain aspects of it.
Theres a guy called Captain preemo (Michael Dare) who has a different take on Woodwards "journalism".
Well worth a search on Google.
The movie "Wired" was a strange creation.
Chiklis did a passable Belushi.
There were a couple of decent scenes.
but the overall tone was unsure.
The best thing to come from it was probably the soundtrack!
I remember Aykroyd being quoted on the film "the guns are really out on this one-I hope it never gets seen!"

JAMES Belushi also went on record as saying "after reading THAT book (Wired) I'm convinced Nixon was innocent!!*

*Bob Woodward also previously broke the Watergate scandal that brought down Nixon (in case anyone didn't know!)

I remember seeing a video of (I think) Charlie & Ronnie at the "Olympia Restaurant" on Saturday Night Live.

Anyone have it and can post it here?

His death was a buzz kill for me - I loved that guy.

I was from a neighborhood by were he grew up and I moved to Calif at about the same time he did and I loved everything he did, except how he killed himself due to excess partying.

As a 22 year old at the time, his death helped me resist temptations I may not have otherwise been able to resist while living the fast So Cal beach lifestyle at the time.

RIP John.

Your death was a good example of how one persons death can affect the lives of so many people close to you, especially when its a senseless death-

I'm sure his ex Judy and Dan Ackroyd and his brother Jim would all agree, what a waste to go out that way when you had so much to offer people - the gift of bringing laughter to others is a unique and special gift, and I've seen few who could do it as John could.

His brother is on a sit-com regularly aired on one of my cable channels. Of course, it's complete and utter crap but I hope he's getting well paid!

I forgot to pay tribute to the message of the thread. John Belushi was a very talented comedian who died far too young. May he rest in peace.

Thanks, K4life! Well, it's a re-run then. They, probably, buy them cheaper when they are no longer aired in their homemarket. Lesser TV-channels (here in Sweden) usually has a schedule consisting of 80 % re-runs of, mostly, American sit-coms.
