I know Vegas isn't the same entertainers graveyard it used to be, but there's still a stigma (deserved or not) associated with becoming a "Vegas Act". I think David is too protective of his image and legacy to potentially harm that. Not that it should, but it could. I can't see him coming out of his reclusive/no interview phase straight into a Vegas phase.
that "stigma" about an "entertainers graveyard" was a load of bullshit then and its a load of bullshit now.
las vegas always had rock and roll bands playing around the city and at different hotel/casinos.
the beatles played the sahara hotel in the early 60's and the doors played the convention center in 1967.throughout the 70's and 80's alot of rock bands played vegas and in the 90's the theater at the old aladdin hotel had bands like pearl jam, stone temple pilots and janes addiction.
and of course the cities most famous "resident" act elvis presley.- the myth is that a fat and washed up elvis was left playing the lounge at the old international hotel, again, total crap.
elvis began doing 2-4 week residency gigs at the international in 1969 when he was far from fat or washed up[he had a #1 single in 73]he was doing 18-20,000 seat arenas the rest of the year and up until the day he died.
santana does a stint at the hard rock and rod and reg of course are at caesers.let me tell you any of those rooms are a GREAT place to see show.
anyone who thinks bowie is above all that is living in an alternate universe. those place hand over the keys to the kingdom to the artists[celine dion has a chopper fly her from her home to the show]and they pay the m.o.n.e.y.
