I'd say Skipstone knocked it out of the park. For Those About To Rock is a great album. Very dark, with some cool songs like "Put The Finger On You" and "Inject The Venom". But not enough boogie. Tattoo You is a classic of course, but again, it could do with more boogie (and less ballads). But in the early 1980s these two albums were as rock'n'roll as you mainstream music could get. EDIT: Except for punk records of that era, they have tremendous rock'n'roll spirit.

My 1st 45: it's a toss-up between "Are You A Boy (or Are You A Girl)?" by the Barbarians or "Heart Full of Soul" by the Yardbirds.

But I definitely DO remember what was my 1st album: "Out of our Heads"

"Doctor please, some more men please,
To Cotchford Farm, out by the pool...

What a drag it is they couldn't revive him"

Brian Jones 2/28/42 - 7/2/69

"Thriller" by Michael Jackson. Hey, I was 6. It would be another decade before I bought my first Stones album, "Voodoo Lounge".

My first album was 'Don Kirschner's Rock Power" - a compilation of early 70s rock hits. It had 'Paranoid' by Black Sabbath on it, and 'No More Mr. Nice Guy' by Alice Cooper on it. I bought 'Children of the Grave' by Sabbath and Alice Cooper's Greatest Hits very shortly afterward.

"The Boss" by Diana Ross

but I bought this album not because the music (I had also no record player to this time). This cover is so f*cking hot! And Diana was so extremly beautiful to that time. About 5 years later, I liked her music too.

Meet the Beatles. My mom bought it for me in 1964, when I was four.

I took it to nursery school for show and tell, but the teachers wouldn't play it. They said it was inappropriate.

I'm an old guy, in my 60's. Anyway, in the Fifties, I begged my mom to buy me a rock n roll record. She came home with Jailhouse Rock with picture sleeve. Still have it.

Procol Harum's greatest hits - kind of a misnomer in that they had few hits, but it covered everything up to the live album. First band I was ever into. My brother had a huge record collection that I listened to and had little need to buy anything, as he already had it. Still have the vinyl copy of this I bought circa 1974.

Amazing how you can hear a song from your teen years and even though it could sound dated or not reflect anything in your current life, it immediately brings that 'thrill' back.

In 1964, I wanted to buy "Carol" which was a instinct bomb for me at 10 years old and heard it for the first time. But couldn't find it at the local store, then rush for the EP in red " It's all over now " and "Tell me". The sleeve was great.
