I love Lucinda Williams. But she is a great Country/Americana artist stuck inside a rock n roll band. The minute the drummer switches to playing brushes, the pedal-steel player and fiddle-player turn up and the guitarist gets an acoustic or mandolin out, thats when she'll realise her potential.

She's the true female heir to the Stones....
Forget Sheryl Crow, Williams has a swagger that is genuine.
And she's the got the musical chops to complete the picture. The Stones should be doing duets with her, not Crow.
I like Sheryl Crow, I thought she was the best interview on Stones In Exile because she's a real fan, but musically, she's too MOR......but it just goes to show how a cute ass and idolatry can get you on a Stones gig. Lucinda is like a female Keith, without the self-destruction.

Thanks Gazza for the info, I didn't realize she had a new album coming out. She is my favorite female artist and has been for quite some time. Car Wheels On A Gravel Road is my favorite cd of hers. Happy Birthday Lucinda.

Got Lucinda's album Essence last week. Strangely enough, I must have overlooked that one - it's a superb album; which escaped my attention in the past. So I've found a new interest in her, so to say

Its out in the UK on Monday (although in some parts of Europe, the release day would be the previous Friday). Ordered it through Badlands on Thursday night, it was sent out Friday, got it Saturday. Badlands have a good track record for these kind of things!

The deluxe edition has an extra disc called 'The Kitchen Tapes', which features home demos of the 12 songs that made the album.

Thanks again.

Got it yesterday and had a first listen last night. My first reaction was that it sounds very familiar, and there is nothing really new. But nevertheless they are good songs, and they very well played. I got the bonus CD as well (kitchentable recordings), and signed up for 4 more bonus tracks to download later this week.
