Slide guitar on No Expectations
It's strange that his best contributions with the band came in a not so creative time in his life, and that it was one of his very last inputs on the whole.

His last meaningful contribution was also his greatest: the slide on No Expectations.

nobody said it was the time he beat Anita, driving her into Keith's arms, thus setting the stage for keith and Anita's run through the late 60s and early 70s as the King and Queen of Funk and Inner Space, and Anita's influence, through keith, on the Stones' music and culture?

edit: thanks for the pic, perfect timing.

I dont think it happened like that though, part of the story but not the full story. Anita went for Mick when Brian drove her away, but used Keith in the meantime. And with heroin and Bianca and Mick being Mick...

I have no idea what you mean. Anita went from being Brians girl to keith's "wife" for many years, still a part of his family, etc. They all did heroin. Bianca was Mick's wife. Mick is Mick, whatever. Anita probably @#$%& Mick. we all know the GS story, how those riffs were built from Keith's burning over Anita "filming" with Mick.

Anyway, back to the topic, Brian hit Anita, Keith rescued her (according to him) the rest is history, regardless of what you think. Accurate, maybe a little joke, I did not intend to tell the "full story" with a one-liner.

I really like his vibraphone contribution to Yesterday's Papers.

His two strongest contributions as a creative musician are these two IMO...

His recorder on Ruby Tuesday is perfect for the song. Fragile and haunting.

He really came up with something special, musically relevant and original for 2000 Light Years From Home.

Of the two I'd say his recorder on Ruby Tuesday is his finest moment. Pure, fragile, beautiful and completely at one with the songs lyrics and emotions.

Aftermath, his musicianship can be heard throughout the album.

I truely believe that Brian invented the nanker.

Keith was just a sheep.

The shaking of these maracas is legendary. Listen to that groooove... that swiiiiiing. None of you know swiiiing, and that's SWIIIIIING. If only Alexis Korner knew the full power of Brian's shaka-shaka... music as we know it would not be the same, Led Zeppelin would not exist and the US already would have had its first lesbian president.

Seems it is impossible to simply talk about Brian's musicianship without some fucktards chiming in with irrelevant shite.
