Satanic Majesties

I'm with squiggle and cc. Out Of Our Heads for sure. A more defining moody image of a rock'n'roll band is hard to imagine. The whole session taken by Gered Mankowitz in London is amazing.

Look at Brian - clearly still the leader of the group at the front of the photo. And Keith, so effortlessly cool and nonchalent.

Then there's Mick, trying to break into the photo but on the edge while Bill and Charlie look on menacingly. I'd sure not want to meet a bunch of guys looking like this in a dark alley.

The photo is the complete opposite to the sweet images on The Beatles album covers around this time. It's a masterful picture and remains one of the best album covers of all time. Punk 10 years ahead of its time.

I Also like Aftermath and Let It Bleed. And Exile.

12x5, including album ringwear. Ain't it snapped at 2120 South Michigan? Keep it dark. Who noticed that all these early London (US) versions have everybody's head cropped, except Keith's? Is there an intentional meaning to this?

Let It Bleed. Warhol or Frank? Tuff one, but I'd give the bone to Bobby Brownjohn if you are including the backcover, too. That's a smash end to an era (band, decade, label)

Let It Bleed....Over the years I've noticed that it gets the most 'tribute' takes in magazines etc.

Mick's rock, I'm roll.

They're all good or great up to and including Goat's Head Soup. I quite like the majesty and decadence they're going for on IORR but the drawing's a bit uneven (Charlie's head looks like it's been stuck on from another drawing) and after that they're less reliable.
Some Girls is my favourite after the initial run.

GHS is not that good, a bit boring isnt it? B&B is so cool. Let it bleed too. The best is probably the first or possibly Decembers children. Between the buttons is cool. Some Girls aint bad either. Thru the past is great. My vote goes to High tide and green grass.
