Good to read something giving Taylor some respect. And yes, it's a BLOODY shame that he wasn't given songwriting credit for so many amazing songs.

How the hell does Keith get credit for songs he's NOT EVEN ON???

Good to read something giving Taylor some respect. Yup, according to some posters here this forum gets some looks... It nice to see Mick Taylor getting all this backing, true love for his contributions made some 40 years ago. No matter what the band decides to do fans here are making a statement. Taylor is a great guitarist and a Rolling Stone, the guitar lineup has to be better with him. I write that with all due respect for both guitarists and I won't single out what's obvious but "we all need someone to lean on"! ............"Time Waits For No One" and everyone on stage and backstage, in the audience or emotionally attached to the Stones legacy deserves better guitar playing if they're making a giant tour. I mean the guy's right there, one of the greatest players in history.

Reminds me of when McCartney REVERSED the songwriting credits in his favor on several songs.

its so the right thing to do. We've had the Richards / Wood show for some time now and it's been remarkable but they've taken that as far as it goes. If they can't approach themselves from the late 70's and 80's why fight it? 51 years in, toss out the egos and present the best show possible. I left the Brooklyn show with admiration for Jagger as he kept his cool during some interesting sections. Mick and Charlie deserve better and would up their game with some old fashioned inspiration. Taylor really wants this, you can see it every second he's on stage, it would be nice to see a fairy-tale come true.

Bitch - rhythm guitar (is this confirmed btw?)
Brown Sugar - Almost inaudible rhythm guitar
Rock's Off - 5 seconds in the ending, the rest is Keith
Tumbling Dice - Bass

Yep, the guitar playing country-ish licks. For instance, when the choruses are kicking in.

If it wasn't just 'recorded & released' as it seem to be some far
I'd have to include the live version of Gimme Shelter from 69-73

The initial 'recorded list' is a great set of 10 songs

----------------
The live top 10 for me have to (in no particular order)

Gimme Shelter
Love In Vain
Bitch
Midnight Rambler
Tumblin Dice
You Can't Always Get What You Want
Angie
Brown Sugar

*Can't You Hear Me Knockin*
*Sway*

last 2 are me hoping to hear these live one day..

I think LIV from L&G and TD from Brussels are great moments on stage for Taylor and the band; nice to see Stop Breaking Down mentioned.

I think Taylor's impact on the band is enormous. I saw him play with the band three times and two of the shows were rather low-key affairs, at least until Jagger went crazy during the closing rush. Jagger did not have to do as much. He could merely say "Guitars" or "Play that guitar" and let the band carry the moment. He has no such confidence now and hasn't for a long time. He's working too hard to manufacture excitement. For me it's a smoke screen and painful to watch. Does he really need to point at the ceiling when singing "upstairs for a ride"?

im not sure what influence mick had on each song but from his era there was many great songs to enjoy.

a great stones era, and so different from the early years and mid 60,s stones.

not many bands can lose their most talented member and come back stronger, think the stones strength in the late 60,s and early 70,s was the songwriting of jagger/richards aswell as the taylor influence, the bands music was much heavier during this period.

my own fave 10 songs in no particular order from these were.

brown sugar
star star
silver train
let it loose
torn and frayed
time waits for no one
heartbreaker
rocks off
loving cup
i got the blues

The rhythm guitar?

Counter Rhythms on Ya Yas.

He plays the same that he does on LIB; D and A. However, transforming the bass lines he did on the album to guitar was a wise move by Keith - I miss that on LWM live nowadays.

Taylor's contribution to the Stones' music is especially important on stage. Except of course Ya Ya's, L & G and the official Brussels many great boots from his era with the Stones testify that.

Thinking of his contribution on studio songs Sway immediately comes to mind.

So the studio list could be like this one:

1. Sway
2. 100 Years ago
3. Winter
4. Time Waits For No One
5. Moonlight Mile
6. Stop Breaking Down
7. Shine A Light
8. Silver Train
9. Can't You Hear Me Knocking
10. Fingerprint File

The 'live' list is much more difficult to compile.
