Nice one, Max. I was thinking of posting this tune a couple of days ago, but I couldn't remember the title. I wonder if there's a farts-only version floating around....

Yes, a great one, in remembrance of singer Patty Donahue, a native of the same city and state that produced Chrissie Hynde (Akron, Ohio). I was thinking of posting The Pretenders' 2000 Miles, but that was already posted in one of the earlier pages of this thread. Ah, but what the hell, why not? The one on page 2 is the [studio] TOTP version from the 80s, so here's a 1995 version live from the Isle of View, complete with a live string arrangement.

This thread is turning into an orgie in bad taste. For @#$%& sake, Mary J Blige can't sing, Kenny G is elevator music and Mariah Carey wails everything to ashes. Why is bad taste always more frequent than good taste?

I sure hope no one replies to anyone who would love to turn this cool thread into a nasty flame war debating tastes in music... there are plenty of other threads for that. How about everyone can post/share whatever they like... and no one is forced to click play on any songs/artist they dont enjoy. Thanks to you in advance. Merry Christmas smiling smiley

I hear you, Max. I was just wondering why the balance always must tip over to bad taste. What's the point of posting, for example, a Jussi Björling or Sinatra song when it will be followed by ten Kenny G songs? Quantity will drown quality.

Here is some peaceful Christmas music to soothe your soul and set you in the right mood.
Sofia Karlsson, a Swedish folk singer mostly known for singing Dan Andersson poems. Dan Andersson, "The best poet in the world" as she calls him.
The lyrics to this song "Frid på jord" (Peace on Earth) is written by herself and fits the spirit of Christmas very well. Here is a translation of some of the lyrics:

"In starry night how clear the words
Peace on earth, peace on earth
They rang out, oh how wonderful
Peace on earth, peace on earth

The Saviour came with hope and peace
But in my soul was night and strife
Nor did I find in all my life
Peace on earth, peace on earth

May the weary find refuge
Peace in God, peace in God
As sweet as in a mother's arms
Praise to God, praise to God

O light and peace of Christmas-time
Guide me through the darkest hours
And bring me home to heaven's calm
Peace on earth, peace on earth ---------

Sofia Karlsson

GOOD ONE Stoneage thumbs up..
now you owe just 3 more (you know, the standard 2 song penalty for each per grumpy post winking smiley

It would be cool if more people from around the world posted their countries fav holiday songs, but we cant force people to get in the spirit using blunt force... but I am willing to try... who wants to go first?

JK!! smiling bouncing smiley All we can do is try to inspire the spirit of the season, melt a few of the cold hearts around here..... bunch of grumpy dumptsers!!! NAH... JK AGAIN!!

and now a song.... (skip the ad after 5 seconds / worth it for real deal video)
