If you weren't broke before you got tickets for the two shows you are now!

I will help you tomorrow because it's too late now. There is plenty of cheap good food in NY. You are coming from Canada?

My case is complicated grinning smiley
I'm from France (Lille) but I leaved 5 months in Montréal the first semester, the second one in Mexico (I just left to go to NY) and next Monday, I definitely go back to Lille.

And thank you very much for your help Rokyfan, I'm looking forward to read you.

For cheap Chinese go to chinatown (easy subway ride):

Big Wong
Bo Ky Noodle shop
Great New York Noodletown
Tasty hand Pulled Noodle Shop

Great cheap food (not just noodles)

not so sure about cheap Japanese. be careful of tourist traps -- lousy food at high prices -- particularly around Times Square. Lots of great pizza places around. That's my cheap eats advice. Pizza in midtown, downtown for Chinese and all other Asain foods.

Cheapest would be a supermarket or grocery store, if there is one there...

I just came back from NYC (sadly couldn't stay for the Stones)... I was staying on East Houston & I found that a lot of the restaurants in that neighborhood are quite reasonable. I think you take the Avenue A bus south to East Houston...but check the metro-guide to make sure...it's only about a 20 minute ride & it's great to see all of the architecture.

There's an OK diner called Remedy on Houston a little past Ave. A. on the south side of the street (stick to the burgers, though). There's Katz's Deli (the famous When Harry Met Sally place), there's great little Indian place called The Spice Cove, there's also a terrific market at the corner of Houston and Ave. called Union Market. They have lovely food (prepared & regular) and it's not too pricey. There's also lots of smaller sandwich venues.
Another tip - go out during happy hour & have a late lunch rather than dinner - that should save you some bucks!
So head towards the East Village/Lower Eastside/Alphabet City & you'll be in the land of cheap(er)-eats. I'm sure some of the IORR New Yorkers will weigh in with a lot more choices.
Good luck & enjoy the show!!smoking smiley

The good thing about restaurants in NYC is the variety not the price. Even McDonalds is more expensive than it would be outside of the city. Despite what the nuts from Chicago think, you can't beat New York pizza. That's probably the best cheap eats in NYC.

For god's sake don't eat in Times Square! The whole area is a tourist trap with shite food at high prices. Avoid entirely if you can.

If you are sticking to Manhattan check out these options:

For the best NY has to offer there are these: [ny.eater.com]

HAVE FUN!

Bon courage.
