Title 5

Where is Title 5 on the exile bonus from? I just listened to 8 satanic outtake CDs , couldn't find it?

I read a fan comment—after a YouTube "Title 5" posting—with the theory that it came from the 1968 Surrey rehearsals, based on some of the sample below. Maybe. Both the sound and some of the chord changes are somewhat similar. (The EXILE reissue take itself isn't evident.)

It is from 1967 TSMR recording sessions.

That's Glyn Johns anouncing the take and the odd guitar sound is via the use of the MRB effect on the Vox Conqueror.

LOL! One of the riffs on these rehearsals is almost note for note what became Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana 23 years later! grinning smiley

It's not on any of the 8-10 hours of bootlegs I have of satanic, must be something they held back

I guess , it just doesn't sound like tsmr.
Even don was couldn't of been that stupid to put a tsmr outtake on an exile bonus disc

It does sound like TSMR and Don Was apparently is that stupid.

Apparently he did...

It's a weird track to place in many ways; The sound, the music style, the way it's played etc.

Well, at least we have a unique piece of instrumental surf-music by the Stones. Who would have guessed that? smiling smiley

It does sound like other tracks from the satanic box sets.

Why it got included, maybe a little joke or something.

Liner notes give title 5 published by promopub B.V, like all other exile tracks, loving cup get abkco publishing

Why? There are other recordings from ABKCO owned era on there.

How is it credited on the CD?

For what ever reason, they might think it is from a later date.

It is from 1967.

No way the lawyers from abkco would allow it

Re: Title 5

Amazingly incredibly difficult to believe that they had go sneak that in when there are still plenty of leftover tracks...

How's that? Loving Cup on the Rarities is ABKCO Music, yet alone some songs on the album proper. Probably some funny business going on what publishing credit is given on the Rarities album.

I still don't understand how this one made it onto the exile outakes

Re: Title 5

I don't think the Stones without Wyman are good historians of their own work.

They took an unreasonably large view of the "Exile" sessions:
- Title 5 is a TSMR outtake.
- Loving Cup (Alternate) is a Let It Bleed outtake (1969).
- Dancing in the Dark is a Sticky Fingers outtakes. (March-May 1970. The "Exile" sessions really started in June-July 1970: Sweet Virginia, Stop Breaking Down, Shake Your Hips. See Nico Zentgraf's site.)

On the Some Girls Extras:
- We Had It All is an Emotional Rescue outtake.
- Tallahassee Lassie I would argue is also an Emotional Rescue outtake. It's from the August-September 78 sessions in L.A. after the Some Girls tour was over, where Summer Romance and Where the Boys Go were recorded.

I think the Stones (i.e. Mick, Don Was and Keith once in a while, listen to the stuff and just have a vague idea of where it's from.)

Just saw that 2008 thread for the '68 Surrey rehearsals for "Beggars ...".

Loads of info for at least one boot for them, but no positive siting on Jones.
Wonder if he's on any of those, 'cuz those jams sounds good'n'sleeeazy.

as compensation for erring, don has promised to place hillside blues on the deluxe edition of satanic....
