SET LIST for a new tour, with ONLY post 1985 songs
Posted by: treaclefingers ()
Date: May 9, 2012 20:27

Continental Drift INTRO

1. One Hit To The Body
2. Sad Sad Sad
3. Saint of Me
4. Dangerous Beauty
5. No Spare Parts
6. Plundered My Soul
7. Out of Tears
8. Mixed Emotions
9. Blinded By Rainbows
10. Under The Radar
11. She Saw Me Coming
12. Harlem Shuffle
13. Rain Falls Down
14. Sleep Tonight
15. Thief in the Night
16. Out of Control
17. Blinded By Rainbows
18. Back of My Hand
19. So Young
20. I Love You Too Much
21. Rough Justice
22. You Got Me Rocking

Encore:
Love Is Strong
Do You Think I Really Care
Sweethearts Together
Oh No Not You Again

I realize this is more songs than they would even do, and I found myself having to take out songs that I'd like to have heard. Their back catalogue casts an extremely long shadow, but this would be an amazing concert.

One can imagine the nightmare of putting together a Stones Setlist, when you have to have at least 5-7 warhorses.

That leaves 15 or so songs for about a 40 year time span. An embarrassment of riches.

Although I added it in, there is plenty of room to 'take it out' and still have a great concert.

What I find interesting is that the different lists so far have so many different toons from mine.

There is a lot of good material that unfortunately will never ever be played live.

Any of those would be thoroughly entertaining. It's a shame we'll likely get the same songs if they do go out again.

One change. I don't think they have played a single concert since 72 that didn't include Tumbling Dice. So, that song may need to be granted an exception.

Would love to attend to such gigs....I'll use your "setlists" to create playing lists to see how the songs flow.

You must be a great fan of Blinded By Rainbows winking smiley

I could personally do without that one and Under The Radar, but otherwise it's a great setlist, imo.

At least it'd be no problem getting tickets.. And great to see them in a 2000 capacity venue..

Maybe I could sub Blinded By Love for one of them...yeah, that's the ticket!

It just doesn't have the same effect if you don't deliver the line accompanied with a rim shot.

Thank you for your contribution, I have however, two observations with your setlist.

The first is that we really don't get much in the way of rockers until right at the end.

The second is that at the halfway point of the concert, it is over! Are you saying their aren't enough good songs post-85 to fill an entire show?

Why 1985? Nothing new happened between 1983 and 1985... so it should be post 1983 songs...

True, but I didn't want anyone sneaking in any songs from Undercover on a technicality, and I wanted Dirty Work in there for good measure, so starting in 1985 seemed to serve as a neutral start point.

If you said AFTER 1983 then that would imply not putting anything from Undercover in.

Considering their age, a concert a little shorter isn't a bad idea:

01. Love Is Strong

02. It Won't Take Long

03. Already Over Me

04. The Worst (Keith w. Nelson & Crow)

05. Mixed Emotions

06. Biggest Mistake

07. Laugh, I Nearly Died

08. Too Tight

09. Out of Control

10. New Faces

11. Brand New Car

12. Sleep Tonight (Keith)

13. Driving Too Fast

14. One Hit (To the Body)

If you want more songs - and only great ones - we need to include Undercover:

- All the Way Down
- Feel On Baby
- Too Much Blood

Not sure how many people would pay $400 for a 40 minute concert though.

I think I can make this set list, but only if they play for about 7,5 minutes.
