5 positive comments to every 1 negative
Posted by: Send It To me ()

I was reading some shrink say that good marriages have a 5:1 ratio of positive to negative comment. I thought this was interesting and now am throwing the idea out there as applicable to this board:

How would IORR look under a 5:1 observance by the members?

I love the Rolling Stones very much.

I love SuperHeavy very much.

I love Bob Marley and Rihanna very much.

I like Snoop Dogg quite a bit.

I love that song and video by M.I.A. "Bad Girls".

Its been many years since I gave a shit one way or another about the Beatles.

oh, you can make as many negative comments about other bands as you want - we're not married to them!

sure, it's easy to laugh at it (and that last one was funny!) but
we'd all feel better for it (especially ... nah, no names - they know it's true!)

some people could also use a rule requiring that they listen every day to at least five Stones tracks
before they can start posting. they've clearly neglected that, and are depressed as a result,
and the depression doesn't let them see that the music is what they need

i love the Rolling Stones

and their '81/'82 tour features not only fantastic guitars and a fine set list,
but also the world's most gloriously raunchy backing vocals outside of the New Barbarians,
and Keith isn't wearing any underwear. raises a sssoul's spirit, that does - hail hail Rolling Stones

What exactly is a "negative comment"? Is stating the opinion that the Stones won't tour again or record an album considered a "negative comment"?

1. I LOVED seeing the Stones in Oshawa.

2. I LOVED all small venue gigs (RPM, Palais Royale,Horseshoe Tavern).

3. I ADORE EOMS!

4. I LOVE all live concerts I've attended by the Stones since '72 on......

5. I'm not wild about the negativity that pops up here.

1. Exile is great!
2. Sticky Fingers is awesome!
3. Let It Bleed is amazing!
4. Goats Head Soup is one of my faves!
5. Tattoo You is wonderful!
6. There's a difference between being "negative" and being "realistic". The Stones aren't going to tour or record anything this year or next year. They will whore it up with merch, complitations, old dusty boots, etc, much like they've been doing in the last 3 years - that's all they're worth now. Creatively bankrupt, a non-functioning group of lazy millionaires run by two old fruits that hate each other; that have NEVER cared about any of us.
The Rolling Stones as a REAL band no longer exists, just a tacky merchandizing brand, nothing more. They are NOT The World's Greatest Rock and Roll Band. They are The Rock and Roll Equivalent to McDonald's. They are fake posers pretending to be blues-influenced artists - WHICH THEY ARE NOT.

People who get upset by the negativity and take it way too personally need to grow a pair.

THANK YOU!

People who take it personally at all need to let go of delusions of any ownership or bond with the group. To put one's own worth on someone or something else (a band, a sports team) enough to actually get upset... kind of sad.

1. I love the Brian era
2. I love the Taylor era
3. I love the Ronnie era, including the "Vegas era"
4. I love all the members of The Rolling Stones
5. I love The Rolling Stones

6. I don't like it when people are putting members of the band up against eachother, and contribute to construct hostility or discussions that don't exist - without proving it with quotes from actual band members...

No... probably is the better word... try not to be swayed by the fray.
Probably means... at certain times it is.... and at other times another album is.
There are too many albums out there for one to ALWAYS be in the #1 spot.... it is tie among 10-50 albums.

Oh, we're "the fray" now? winking smiley We were just having some fun because Exile is so good. It's called hyperbole. No need to take everything so literally.

hyperbole[hahy-pur-buh-lee] ?
Adshy·per·bo·le? ?/ha??p?rb?li/ Show Spelled[hahy-pur-buh-lee] Show IPA
noun Rhetoric .
1. obvious and intentional exaggeration.
2. an extravagant statement or figure of speech not intended to be taken literally, as “to wait an eternity.”
