I spoke with Joe last week - it didn't make the scope of the piece - but we did speak a little off line about his role in Jagger's band - he said in his life he's never seen a performer more plugged in or more concerned with giving people their money's worth - that he actually fretted over it - set a standard Joe never forgot
Great. I like very much Joe. Saw him several times (chickenfoot a couple of seeks ago- taped show available on Dime). Sure jagger is the best. If you listen to the cd set of rehearsals of 88 tour you realize how much work was done by jagg and satriani too.
"we know it's a bit late but we hope you don't mind if we stay"
Saw him, Steve Vai and Robert Fripp all at the same time (well... I say Robert Fripp.. but he decided playing out of sight behind the 6ft amplier was a good idea).
Great stuff.
Joe's tribute album (to just about everyone) Strange Beautiful Music is awesome.
