Certainly the first to fill large stadiums with large blow up dolls.

Keith was using an Epiphone Casino before the Beatles were
and was the first among the British blues-rockers to own a Les Paul

well,i think Pink Floyd and Stones really made stadiums what they are now.
Zeppelin didn´t play many stadium dates,,i know it,because i have 300 zep show.
Almost all their shows were indoor arenas.I can only think of Kezar stadium-1973.

Didnt they break an attendance record for a stadium in 1973 at a show in Tampa?

Zep played stadiums on their last American tour in 77. I know because I saw 2 shows at the Oakland Coliseum.

The TATTOO YOU tour might have been the first time a stage had "arms" that stretched far into the audience.

First major act to wait a decade too long to open their vaults.

Possibly the first major act to sell their own bobble headed dolls.

Did any other groups have a specific tour stage before the Lotus in '75?

I remember a pay-per-view opportunity to see the Stones from Chicago's Soldier Field in '81 and was to be broadcast to an Indianapolis venue. I had a ticket and got a refund when they either cancelled the broadcast entirely or just the Indy location.

Were they the first to have their back 60s catalogue remastered onto SACD?

They invented the internet...ha.

I think---Sex, Drugs and Rock and roll!!

They were the first act to have a concert broadcast on the internet - in 1994.

Also, the first band to use corporate sponsorship - in 1981 (Jovan, I think)

The only act to have number one albums in five different decades. They topped the charts in the UK in every decade since the 60s - and had ABB sold 11 more copies in it's first week in 2002, theyd have had chart toppers in SIX decades.

Fairly sure that Mccartneys Run Devil Run promo show at the Cavern was the first in 1999,if it can be called a legit gig that is.

Nope. The Stones gig in Dallas in '94 was partly webcast. Dont think it was a big success technologically, but it still happened.

For the 1975 Tour there were large video screens being used to project the band's image to the cheap seats.

They weren't the first to play large stadiums - the Beatles beat them. But you couldn't hear the Beatles play over the screams. No PA system.

The Stones and Pink Floyd would be the first bands to play stadium shows with good sound.

Ditching the matching suits and all of them wearing something different, controversial back in the day.

Perhaps Brian Jones was not the first British rock musician to play a bottleneck on record (I wanna be your man), but he certainly was the one who popularized that playing technique in British rock music.

I am not aware if playing a dulcimer and an autoharp on rock records also was his innovation or not.

Yep,i stand corrected. Can't believe it could have too successful,i sat in front of a buffering screen for an hour trying to watch that Cavern show five years later.Cool of Mick to see the potential though.

I think Pink Floyds-1977 tour was almost full stadium tour,,,and with blow up pigs!

But it wasn´t untill stones 1982 tour, which was full stadium tour,by anyone i guess.
Pink Floyd was the 1st to use video monitor.

haha, stones were the first charge entire ticket price for themselves!
Thats was on 1994 tour,,,stadium "owner" got money from parking lots, right?

The first noticeable changes The Stones made was to themselves with their infamous and controversial image makeover..and in that the
Bad Boy Image was created. Now nearly every Rock Band in the world has a Bad Boy or Girl in it.smoking smiley

You've obviously never heard of Jerry Lee Lewis, Hank Williams or Robert Johnson then.

Plenty of acts who pre-dated the Stones didnt need an image makeover to be like that. It was what they were.
