This is great news. I would be happy with one a year. It's been far too long. Hope they're not going to change actors again. Daniel Craig was great in Casino Royale, imo.

They were approached to do one just after Voodoo Lounge came out, but it didnt happen.
So, if it had worked out, it may have been the Stones recording a (totally different) song called 'Golden Eye' instead of the one Tina Turner sang, which was written by Bono and The Edge.

The first James Bond film I ever saw was On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Imagine my plight. To me, George Lazenby is, and will always be, James Bond.

OHSS is great! And Lazenby was quite good in it. I would have much preferred him to continue on over Roger Moore, but alas, he didn't want to do a series! It was he who dropped out.

I'm not sure about that. The next film was Diamonds Are Forever, in which Sean came back for one last go before Roger took over with Live And Let Die. If Sean rang them up and said he wanted to do another Bond film, they would have had to drop Lazenby, no matter how good he was, just because in those days Sean was James Bond and would have been given preference over any other actor.

I think Never Say Never Again, released in 1983, and not, technically, considered to be an official Bond film because it wasn't made by "the franchise", was an intriguing, but ultimately blown opportunity to show what Bond might have been like as a middle-aged man. Supposedly, Connery wanted to play him as he really looked; bearded and bald, but decided that's not how a 53-year-old Bond would look. He would have been vain, and he would have worn a wig.
