Don't Blame it on The Stones!

For some reason The Stones seem to had come in for quite a bit criticism for their fans behavior from the Police,Public,Parents and Church groups.
Why did people always "point the finger at The Stones" for if things were going wrong? I always think its a bit unfair to be singled out like that.

Blame It On The Stones Lyrics
Artist(Band):Kris Kristofferson
Review The Song (0)
Print the Lyrics

Mister Marvin Middle Class is really in a stew
Wond'rin' what the younger generation's coming to
And the taste of his martini doesn't please his bitter tongue
Blame it on the Rolling Stones.

Blame it on the Stones; blame it on the Stones
You'll feel so much better, knowing you don't stand alone
Join the accusation; save the bleeding nation
Get it off your shoulders; blame it on the Stones

Mother tells the ladies at the bridge club every day
Of the rising price of tranquilizers she must pay
And she wonders why the children never seem to stay at home
Blame it on the Rolling Stones.

Blame it on the Stones; Blame it on the Stones
You'll feel so much better, knowing you don't stand alone
Join the accusation; save the bleeding nation
Get it off your shoulders; blame it on the Stones

Father's at the office, nightly working all the time
Trying to make the secretary change her little mind
And it bothers him to read about so many broken homes
Blame it on those Rolling Stones.

Blame it on the Stones; Blame it on the Stones
You'll feel so much better knowing you don't stand alone
Join the accusation; same the bleeding nation
Get it off your shoulders; blame it on the Stones

Blame it on the stones, blame it on the stones.

Colonial, the press the Stones got from what you call 'blame' was some of the best publicity they could have gotten outside of their great music and the charisma of Mick Jagger. I would venture to say that to a point they welcomed it. Blame it on the Stones I say!

I suppose there the element of surprise can make things interesting. Sometimes...not so much.

If it is so interesting why can he not get a responce?

As a lifer I will offer the perception of the image. Come around the British invation of NA the colonies were intrenched in puratin thoughts, drugs and ladies tossing panties was a little against the norm, although a backbone of the preceeding blues decades. The press at the time, I recall being geeks with short hair and pencil thin ties shoving mikes into the faces of these strangly dressed youngsters with that strange long hair. They looked for anything to point out how short lived this rock and roll thing was going to turn out to be. Along with this was the technology revolution with such advancements as similcast and news that was not days old fed the whole hype of the decade, tell all you can about a subject, good or bad (had a huge influence on the movie industry as well). So increassed media at a time of a rapidly expanding cultural event exposing what was wine women and song for the new sex drugs and R&R. So the press held up two bands in particular The Beatles and Stones. Althought the beatles used and advocated drug use thay did it with a `boy-ish`approach. The Stones looked uglier, so meaner, and seemed to build on a bad boy image. Things like Altimont did little to change that perception, follow that with the Vancouver riot, highly publicised drug busts, possible jail time.

As a hindsight thing I always like to show that the Stones were the only band that survived this scrutiny, and it looked like water off a ducks back. While most bands were ripped appart and sufferred from bad press it seemed to just roll off the backs of the stones. It is part of their appeal. So the fans who get it may just seem a little strange to the law!

Well inspired in plagiarizing his mate Waylon Jennings' "Blame It On The Kellys"...

Are referring the the off topic within this post? If so then for myself I would say getting into 'discussions' with others over politics on this board is a fruitless exercise. Please note also I said '...can make things interesting. Sometimes...not so much.' If on the other hand you refer to the topic on hand then I would say colonial has had plenty of responses.

Once upon a time some members of the band urinated against the wall of a gas station at night, which caused some reaction in the press then.

Long time ago, isn't it? Such "scandal" is unthinkable in the 21st century.

That just sounds like a general complaint.
