Sounds like a collaboration to me. The beginning of the riff is Richards. The continuance sounds like Taylor. There are four guitars in there, as well as bass and piano, so the theory of a Hopkins/Taylor credit is imo a little vague.
It sounds like Keith is playing one electric (a bit down in the mix) + one acoustic.
Great little unfinished piece. Haven't heard the version on A Stones Throw, though. How is it btw?

This song is a really good outtake. it doesn't sound like a
stones song, (not in a bad way). I mean you could probably
put it in GHS, but it's still a bit odd. even makes Can You Hear The Music
sound normal.

Yeah, Separately is great.
I always assumed it was a Taylor/Hopkins collaboration or at least the idea came from one of them, and that this was the reason there never became more of it. To me it could have been a perfect filmscore. Atmospheric.
I get the Ampeg feel from the guitar sound so I would date it earlier, to the Sticky /Exile period

The intro's and middle eight is a straight copy of a track I forgot, I believe a James Taylor track from a year or 2 earlier.
