Is Framptom Comes Alive the best selling live Album of all times?

No, Springsteen's Live 1975-1985 has sold more. Not sure what is the best selling of all time is.

in america its garth brooks live album. certified 22 million sold as a double album meaning its sold 11 million physical units. frampton comes alive is around 4 million physical and bruce springsteen is around 5 million physical but close to 15 million since its a trible disc set. album the eagles have a 4 million physical selling live album meaning close to 8 million. yes thats very confussing the way the RIAA counts sales of multi disc sets so in america the breakdown is:
1 garth brook 11 milliom
2 clapton unplugged 10 million
3 springsteen 5 million
4 eagles and frampton 4 million

thats actual amount of product units sold. so its not counting all the sales it gets by being multi disc.

edit: found a list for america and claptons unplugged is #2

Was The Song Remains the Same anywhere near Eagles or Frampton?

Re: What's The Greatest Live Album Of All Time

the song remains the same has sold about 3 million physical units and is certified at 4 million sold. its close to 6 but since its a double album it can not be certified as 5 million so 6 million is the next level. thats why i said the RIAA should always just count physical units sold and not number of discs/records in 1 unit.

Johnny Winter "Live Johnny Winter and". Certainly one of the best live albums. Pure and raw Rock&Roll music. Johnny was at the top of his rock and roll game in 1970. He was a fast player but very melodic and precise. His voice is also remarkable on those recordings. His "Rock and Roll" shout to introduce JohnnyB.Good is the greatest of all R&R yells ever recorded.
Rock and Roll,
Mops

Janis gives me goosebumps. She has the talent and guts to takes chances, run out on limbs and go where few singers dare. When she was on she may have this country's greatest blues and soul singer. The only other singer I can think of that tears her heart out and leaves blood on the stage like that is Judy Garland. They were so good it was frightening.

There are two wonderful crowd shots in the Monterey Pop movie. That one of Mama Cass watching Janis and a shot of a completely dumbstruck jawdropped young woman watching Jimi as if she could not believe her eyes (or ears).

Nice post Marhsall. A performance for the ages.

A different kind of live album, but an awesome one is KINKS - TO THE BONE.

Kinks went into Konk stuios in mid 90s and laid down unbelievable versions of their greatist hits before a studio audience. Ray does some narration on the album and they also mix in some live large concert audio.

Extremely well done. Two CD set. It's very hard to find, now. If you can get your hands on it, do so!

Otis Redding Live in Europe can really give you goose bumps. If you haven't seen it, pick up the DVD/VHS/Laser Disc of Otis Live on Ready Steady Go! released by Dave Clark Productions. It really highlights the Stax touring band, different than the Cropper/Dunn/Jackson studio crew. BTW, only a few of that touring band survived the plane crash.

Believe it or not, my favorite is REO Speedwagon "You Get What You Play For". Very hard rockin' album. Not the soft ballad drivel that the later REO became.
Yeah espicially when they used to do stuff like this.

It's great, but it's a very particular period of The Who. Lots of guitar pyrotechnics and jamming. I like the deluxe version with more songs much better than the original release.

I agree the deluxe is awesome

Band of Gypsys stands alone as my all time favorite live album. I can't think of a comparable album where the all the songs are first released as live cuts. To me this is Jimi at his absolute technical and spiritual peak. He was communicating on a non-verbal level that evening that is unsurpassed.

Yas Yas is 2nd.

Neil Young - Time Fades Away is all 'new' songs too.

The 'Bob Dylan In Concert' CBS album that was pulled just before release in '63 was all new material. Even though he had only two albums out at the time.
