I was wondering if you were talking about those years in general
or the Stones during those years?

I think you meant more the Stones.
Yup, the whole Brian Jones era is the best for me.

That's when I discovered the Stones ( I was 13 to 17)
Played in my first band which did about 1/3 Stones, 1/3 Butterfile, 1/3 Other Blues
Saw them for the first time in 66 in Detroit for the Aftermath tour.

Musically, they were at their peak for me. New, honest and sincere.

Before Mick started doing Mick, they still had Charlie and Bill.

And of course, everything else that was going on in the world.
A great time to be alive!

Yes - but then I would say that, wouldn't I! The music you love when you're a teenager remains special to you for ever, and being a teenager in 63-67 was something special.
Just lucky, I guess.

aftermath, revolver, and blonde on blonde are great albums that define the mid-60's. Rolling Stones Now, 12x5, Out Of Our Heads because the music is just that music. The boys weren't yet trying to make a statement...Satisfaction, Get Off My Cloud, 19th Nervous Breakdown are just great tunes to dance and drink to...
