While I'm not big on the Stones playing any covers at concerts, I must say I quite enjoyed Little Queenie in 1997,Let It Rock did in fact rock in 78 and BBJ (how's that for a song name huh?) in 72 did in fact rock but isn't one of my favorite tunes.
So all in all I'm mostly concerned for Stones songs but will not complain if they play some Berry! Enjoyed the Ray Charles tune also on ABB.

No need for covers for me too but if so Chucke Berry's songs are fantastic. Even greater would be a guest spot.......but I'm dreaming now.

Not a CB song but what about "Rainy day women"??

Quite honestly, I'd rather hear more Chuck Berry covers than some of their most recent choices for covers.

Ouch!

No ouch here. If they played nothing but Berry covers the next concert I go to, I'd leave a happy man. I'd much rather hear Little Queenie than Brown Sugar or Start Me up, or Let It Rock than IORR or...(keep going)

You've heard one Chuck Berry song, you've heard them all!

I'm sure they'll be one or more of those Berryesque crappy throwaways on the next album. Has somebody already listed the truly 'Sad, Sad, Sad' cuts on past records?

I doubt Keith is up to playing Chuck Berry numbers now, maybe he could manage the rhythm parts, but he'd have to stop all the time to pull shapes. grinning smiley

You've heard one Chuck Berry song, you've heard them all!

I guess there are two kinds of people in this big old world. First you got people who believe that if you've heard one Chuck Berry-song, you've heard them all and then you have people who believe there can't be enough Chuck Berry-songs. Me I belong in the second category.

I was thinking about this the other day, listening to Chuck Berry's Rockin' At the Hops LP (which the Stones, and Keith, plundered: Down the Road Apiece, Confessin' The Blues, Bye Bye Johnnie, Worried Life Blues, Let It Rock).

They should open the tour with a cover of Too Pooped to Pop:

Casey is an old man who wants to be a teen
He goes to all the dances and they call him cha-cha king
He cha-cha’s when the band is playin’ rock and roll
He tries to keep in time but the beat leaves him cold.

Because he’s too pooped to pop, too old a soul
Hips gettin’ weaker when he tries to do the stroll
And every time his feet get to go in one way
Here comes a new dance and it’s goin’ to stray.

Chicks told Casey, “You better move man,
This is only a one night stand”
Casey wasn’t in time but he was dancin’ awhile
Till a cramp caught his leg and he had to change his style.

Casey finally learned to do the hoochie koo
This might have been fine back in '22
Now, I’m gonna give you fellows just a little tip
If you wanna keep your girl you’d better get hip

Or, you’ll be too pooped to pop, too old a soul
You hips are gettin’ weaker when you’ll try to do the stroll
And every time your feet gettin’ to go in one way
Here comes a new dance you’ll be left to stray.

Or bring back Cochran's Twenty Flight Rock: I'm too tired to rock...

Just joking.grinning smiley

Although, he did not write this song the cover pretty cool to me. I can see the Stones tearing this tune up live.

Bunny Paul, Abby Lincoln and Della Reese also have great versions of this tune.

You came a long way from Saint Louis

I can help you with 'I'm a Man'. I got one version with Spencer Davies Group, San Francisco Blues might be the one that Dylan sang in his youth... Birmingham?? Maybe The Saints have done that one...
