I thought Jimmy Page played the riff in 'One Hit'?

And isn't that Jeff Beck or Pete Townshend playing the main riff for 'Slave'?

Can't You Hear Me Knocking is definitely the best, that's the nearest the Stones ever got to hard rock. So good.

Other great riffs are:
All Down The Line
Bitch
Happy
Monkey Man

Yeah, it was the chorus and the idea of the song "nicked" from the Staple Singers (originally composed by the famous "trad" I think?). Well, to an extent one can say that the riff follows the verse melody line (and the chords) but not actually much... Anyway, if there is anything truely original and genious in that song that is the guitar riff...

If I had to pick one - as in, only one - it would have to be Can't You Hear Me Knocking. It's got the fantastic vibe of ripping someone's throat apart with a nice big sharp knife.

Of course the song is excellent too.

Brian created that motif/riff, Keith told us so in a 1965 Beat Instrumental I have here. cool smiley

My favorite Keith created riffs are Gimme Shelter, too classy to call it a riff though, and the many cool guitar parts in 2000 Man.

Both are ace examples of Keith's magical guitar as an orchestra approach, damn, there's so many to choose from. cool smiley

I like the "Before they make me run" intro even better than the "Brown Sugar" one. The "Dance little sister" riff is damn good too.

always loved the riff for Hand of Fate.

underrated! The decision to not release this as a single and choose Fool To Try and Hot Stuff instead was crazy.
