Some of the songs sound really good! Like Sweetness & I Don't Think So. Ronnie has played them on his radio show. I don't have the link handy, but if you go to the site you can play the old shows. Ronnie's solo albums kick ass!

If the album actually sounds as generic and unimaginative as the song titles suggest ("A Thing Like That", "Thing About You", "Tell Me Something", "Forever" and so on) we are up for a huge disappointment.

Did you listen to "Thing About You" before you posted this? It sounds pretty damn good to me.

Sounds a bit like 999 by Keef. Sounds generic blues rock that any old bar band with half a mind could do. I won't be buying. Sorry Ronnie it's ok but not that good. Doesn't make me want to listen again.

Actually what's wrong with it is the arrangement and the instrumentation.

"Lucky Man"? Ronnie is covering ELP...that would be interesting? Maybe he could replace the six minute synth solo with a slide guitarwinking smiley

Great, IORR at it's best. Moaning before the damn things even released. Give it a few years and you'll have no new products to getting your knickers in a twist about.....

For Gods sake, Iam not moaning. I only wish your musical future doesn't depend on Stones(related) stuff only.
You might get disappointed..

"we are up for a huge disappointment."
"Sounds generic blues rock that any old bar band with half a mind could do."

And just for the record my 'musical future' is far from Stones related. I just hate seeing this board going down the pan with the continuous negativity....

Hi Purepop

Sounds like a great job - got any vacancies in the UK?!

Several New Barbarians shows from 1979 were filmed and circulate in bootleg format. The quality is almost unwatchable although the performances are certainly quite good, if a little ragged. Are there any plans for a DVD?

He should have included a remake of "Feel On Baby" on "Feel Like Playing"

Just voicing my opinion and I'm not being negative just constructive criticism for the next Ronnie solo outing.

To me it sound like ZZ-top and Billy Gibson is on exactly this song

^^^^ Yep, the Rev. Willy G. does indeed play on that tune. If "any old bar band with half a mind" could play this sort of "generic blues", I'd hang out in a lot more bars!

Seriously, one must have to be a total douche to make an assumption about how an album will sound based on song titles. Would you have assumed Ooh La La would be a masterful track based on that title?

* edit * don't judge a book by its cover
