All - returned from the journey - thank you so much for helping us get there - pix to follow soon - one note - awoke one morning in the Antarctica Sound - go down to get a cup of tea at 5am - every other day a short (2 page) satellite list of major headlines is printed onboard - I fetch my tea, sit down with the news and this is what I see bannered across the top: "Keith Richards finds it "impossible" to be around Mick Jagger."

How was the Absolut ?

EG-just fine - those Russians are amazing folks - very resolute

How cold WAS it?

actually not terrible - maybe 20 with a 10-15 wind chill - the most stunning place i have ever seen - trying to upload a video now for you all

Looks a great place to be.........how about the sound of silence out there HBwritter always curious about those place where there is completely silence.

Keep On Rolling

I was in Antarctica a couple years ago (on a cruise with my parents) and it was fascinating and beautiful...but after awhile I did feel that after seeing countless icebergs and penguins everyone was forcing their enthusiasm. "What's at the next stop?" "More penguins!" "Well, I guess I'd better get aboard the Zodiac and see them." (Penguins do look a lot alike.)

Tho of course it was upon the merits of your essay and worthiness of your "cause" that nabbed you the prize. Can't wait to hear, read, more of your reflections. Where will that be?

Did you have any profound revelations while you were "at sea"? Did you and your daughter hang out a lot? hang with others? how did those family members "left behind" feel?

No need to answer - but if we were sitting down over drinks in LA that's what I'd ask you.
