Highly appreciated, y'all- (especially you, Rockman... winking smiley )

Obviously the Rhino box gives you a large cross-section. If you'd rather dabble, Rock n Roll Gumbo is great, and Crawfish Fiesta not bad. Live on the Queen Mary is not as good, but is kind of interesting as it is a Paul McCartney birthday gig aboard the famous luxury liner. Kinda cool for historical reasons.

Here ya go Filip ..... This one's ESSENTIAL....

PROFESSOR LONGHAIR - TIPITINA
The Complete 1949-1957 New Orleans Recordings - Important Artists 7802

Carries the rare first recordings from 1949 on the Star Talent label...

Now days the origianal Star Talent singles change hands for MEGA
$$$Bucks ....seem to recall a story from a few years back about Dylan
actually tracking down and purchasing a copy of the Star Talent 808 single..

Also includes the Atlantic material that was recorded in late 1949
after Ahmet Ertegun went on down to New orleans looking for fresh talent......

Worth the purchase to hear the Professor's crippling blues - Her Mind Is Gone on Mercury

Mercury ....Wasco ....Federal & Ebb material along with rare alternative takes
are inluded on the 2CD set..........

The classic Atlantic material as a seperate item can also be found on the on the CD

Professor Longhair - New Orleans Piano - Atlantic

...Cheerz to you all!

I already purchased the 'Fess'-album on the web (it took me a while to find a copy I could afford! winking smiley ); and I'll keep that 'Atlantic' album in mind, Rockman!

Apart from the ' Queen Mary' album: any live-recordings y'all might wanna recommend?

Again: thanx for the advice! No better place than this forum to catch up on some good rock'n'roll "roots"... smileys with beer
