Maybe, but it is kind of unpleasant traveling (pain in my butts) moody smiley
We almost came over for the last shows in 2007, but the memory of
the traveling part being is no fun was still fresh. I have not sat
on a plane for longer than 4 hours since 1995, and now with the whole
security hassles ... and ... I am glad we got it while the getting was good.
But thank you very much for the invitation..

I like body art when it's tastefully done.

Seriously, though, I'm traveling to Amsterdam & Lyon in a couple of months.
I'd love to see some Medieval art while I'm there.

"Late Night" is really cool Duke. Great atmosphere. Not sure if I say this correct in English, but I simply love the way how you catch the light without showing the light.

Don't forget Paris, Edith, when you're on your way to Lyon. Quite some fine musea there: Louvre of course, d'Orsay naturellement, Monet museum, Picasso museum, to mention some well known.

BTW: doesn't live one of our IORR-members in Lyon? I thought even more than one.

Max, I understand. I've been to Greece last year. But I hate flying. Not extremely, like our friend Bill, but certainly a bit fear of flying. Well, at least you've been in our country once.

BTW: I don't exclude a honorary citizenship of our capital Amsterdam for you, because of your fantastic rooting for Oranje. The mayor is a good friend of mine, so maybe...winking smiley

WOW!! I am extremely honored by that. Thank You Very Much.
It was my pleasure to support the Nederland football team in WC2010, they were VERY worthy,

What was it about Caravaggio that attracted him to decapitation?

Here's Salome With The Head Of John The Baptist. Another amazing painting.

All the great artists of that era painted biblical subject matter. Judith DOES look very calm in every one of these pictures that I've ever seen, as if her victory over Holofernes is inevitable and no big deal. I can't imagine why anyone would want a picture like this hanging on their wall, but there must have been an awful lot of commissions for them, because paintings of Judith and Salome are extremely common. Personally, I think it's a male castration fantasy. The severed head in these pictures really represents a different part of the male anatomy.

In his painting of David and Goliath, he depicted his assistant (and lover) as David, and himself as the decapitated Goliath.
