regarding that type of ballad the stones are not anywhere near in the same leage with aerosmith.

rough justice is pretty much has-been by the way.

well in the same ballpark anyway, since aerosmith's ballads are all the same now, and all suck just as much as Streets.

& Rough Justice has their most blistering, blazing guitar work since tracks like All Down The Line & Bitch, imo. Still I have to question your musical taste if you think songs like Streets Of Love are really what you want from Stones, but hey I'm glad someone gets enjoyment out of it (i guess).

no one is allowed to question my musical taste !!!

especially if someone compares rj to bitch.

b.t.w. this thread is about ftr and not streets.

i prefer ftr by a mile over rj. for sure.

Actually I was comparing ballads overall to the rockers, and used Streets as another example ... to me they all lump up as one track (granted I think FTR is slightly better than Streets) - but yes, i still highly question your musical taste.

... oh, and please don't tell me that you think Aerosmith songs like I Don't Want To Miss A Thing and Crazy can compare to their classic rock songs.

Crazy's wonderful! I Don't Want to Miss a Thing... less so.

Following the River is very good. More like a GHS song than an Exile one.

The more I listen to this song the more I doubt it actually is a Rolling Stones song....It sounds more and more like a Jagger solo outtake from the dreadful Alfie era....

So why you're still listening, Mathijs, if you loathe the song that much?!
Btw. I quite liked "Old habits" while the rest is really not good at all.

To me none of the bonus stuff is classic Stones. But some songs incl. FTR are quite nice . . + that's fine with me!
I didn't really expect more.

I listen to it to see if I can hear marks that can proof who is playing what. For example, there are quite some drum breaks that are really remeniscent of Jimmy Miller, while there's no classic Charlie Watts break.

By the way, I don't think the song is that bad, but it's the horrible singing of Jagger and the terribly amateuristic lyrics that makes it quite an unlistenable afair.

Why do you press your point so hard? You hate it, you said it not once, not twice, Ican't remember how many times. amateuristic lyrics, horrible singing - arr.. And I like it, for my taste the lyrics is just brilliant, and Mick's voice does it for me. There is something real and touching in this song

That may be right. I have the same doubts as a drummer.
But the song is still quite nice to me . .lol

I call it the voice only Jerry Hall could love.....it's grating, like a whiny cat in pain. Horrendous.

It's that voice...it overrides everything: the lyrics, the music - it just screams 'Im faking it.'

Great ballad, complex composition, and (unfortunately) the only track of "Exile Deluxe" which is worth realizing.
