STANDARD tuning did you say ? Well I'm trying to learn how to play a number of Stones songs at the moment, so of those that are foremost in my mind, Rambler takes some beating.

It's never been open G, KeithNacho. How could he have made the F# chord intro w open G? One fret too low, you know.

The original version of Rocks Off is not in open G. Now to answer the question, Jumpin' Jack Flash comes to mind but ask me again tomorrow and I will probably give you a different answer!

EOMS music book has pretty good guitar notations. They have Rocks Off as Open G with 6th string low E instead if D for one of the guitars. I play it in standard because you can do the boogie rhythm parts (especially the E chord) much easier that way. You can cheat on the intro by just using the three middle strings and leaving off the A string.

Rock`s Off is defenitly open G, starting in the 9th fret.

My favourite one in standard is Beast Of Burden, but I´m sur there are so many I didn`t think of...

Very easy to do: start in the 9th fret with the first riff, then you play for the F# chord on the 3rd fret (fifth string) and 4th fret (4th string) and simply add the 4th fret on the 5th string to complete the riff. get it? That`s the original sound.

Thats not the original sound. The original is played in standard tuning.

Rocks Off is in standard tuning. Of course one can play it in open G - but that's not how it's played. Meaning, that's not how Keith wrote it, recorded it or plays it. Ergo, it's standard.

Can't You Hear Me Knocking is in open G. So that doesn't count.

KeithNacho plays HTW in standard, which it can be done but it's not "right" but insists that Rocks Off is in open G? I think his burrito has been slightly over cooked.

The studio version of Rocks Off is in standard tuning, and Keith has never ever played it in open G live on stage.

Well Tricky, I don't have a youtube clip but I have managed to work out a passable version of "Can't You Hear Me Knockin'" in standard tuning. Most of the chord voicings sound OK but as you suggest the fingerings require a little more work. Still, I like working out tunes done originally in one tuning using another. It's a fun challenge...
