Any news?

This is what I found on Zentgraf:

2009 probably January – May: RONNIE WOOD. Los Angeles and Hawaii. Studio-
sessions for his upcoming album 'More Good News'. Producers: Bob Rock,
Danny Saber, Bernard Fowler.
Musicians: RW, Bernard Fowler (voc), Waddy Wachtel (gtr), Ian McLagan
(keyb), Flea (bass), Rick Rosas (bass), Eddie Vedder (voc),
Blondie Chaplin (voc) and many others

Yes, I can confirm this. Rick Rosas told me two weeks ago that he had recorded four tracks w/Ronnie (Bernard as producer) in one day. Blondie was also there that day.

I'm curious if Ron covers costs with the release of his solo albums. I'm still yet to listen to one but I do know they don't sell. Anyone know who he is signed to?

Ron's solo albums, his whole catalog is a topnotch affair IMO. If you are a Stones fan this should be part of the collection. From "Ive got my own album," all the way to "Not for Beginners" including the Live albums.

Totally agree, every Stones fan should own Ronnies solo albums too.
My faves are 1234, I've Got My Own ALbum To Do, and Gimme Some Neck

Who cares about market? There has never been a market for Ron Wood solo albums. Stonestod - you are the person who made me go back and re-appreciate "1234".

Don't think Ronnie makes the album because of a xx million seller - the money he makes is touring with Stones and Stones royalties.
Making an album is to be able to publish his music, being able to make aware his music - like his painting. He is probably just happy it doesn't gives him too much costs.

Thank you for the news update on "More Good News".

I have to disagree that Ron Wood's catalogue sells only to hardcore fans. I don't have bootlegs, I don't even have all Stones albums, but I do have 2 of Ron's solo albums. From listening to them, I'd say that I can imagine several songs played as singles on the radio, for example "Testify", "Must Be Love" and "Always Wanted More" from Slide On This, and "This Little Heart" from Not For Beginners.

I guess Ron could be a good film composer, too, just by listening to the instrumentals from his albums.

And yes, he fully deserves to sing a song of his own on the next Stones album. Bill got the permission, so why not Ron as well?

you are the exception case....i would hazard an educated guess that ron sells almost exclusively to stones fans who have all their albums...and then to probably less than a tenth of that group, and that's a group that is shrinking as we speak, given the figures of the universal remasters sales. that's my point - it's an ever-diminishing group. not a criticism, just an observation...

Ronnie should get a song on the next Stones album. No doubt about that.

Right on.

The guy has quite an ear for melodies. Definitely a huge shame Mick and Keith haven't utilized more of Ronnie in their songwriting.

Exactly. It's admirable that he's making music just for the love of making music, not because of the money or as product for an upcoming tour. Isn't that what we're always wishing the Stones would do these days?

Who cares Wood's album doesn't sell many copies? He'll enjoy making it and his fans will enjoy hearing it.

I WONDER WHAT RONNIE MEANS WITH "MORE" GOOD NEWS : BEING IN REHAB FOR THE 10TH TIME, LEAVING YOUR WIFE FOR A 20-YEARS OLD SLUT, BEING BASHED BY YOUR KIDS....
I REALLY WONDER WHAT HE COMES UP WITH !!

The title is probably ironic.

All of his solo albums have been good or excellent, so I'm really
looking forward to it. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it won't
be another Automatic (his 1987 album which never saw the light of day).
