For Boogie guitar amps experts...Mark IIA question

Hi everybody

A guitar player near my hometown is offering me a 60w Mesa Boogie Mark IIA from 1979 with speaker mod (he sold the Black Shadow because was so heavy weighted and putted a Celestion Century i think...)and a new Mesa Boogie replacement power transformer for EU voltage at a really good price i think (much less than i saw on ebay on most Mesa Mark I/II)

I think that with this amp and my Custom 72 Tele RI with SD Broadcaster pickup in bridge i could get the Stones sound from 1977 to 1982 tour...maybe adding some phaser, delay etc...

For users of this Mesa Mark II models i ask you:
How have i to set the eq. controls, which channel to use, effects etc. to get the Stones late 70s-first 80s sound?

The amp apart from the eq. knobs has the graphic eq ( no reverb )....so too much buttons to push to get closer sounds for a new user...

I´ll appreciate so much your helpful advices.thumbs up

you can't say that generally... take the amp and change the pots until you like it.. the settings would help you only, if you had keiths guitar and keiths fingers.

sound is :

15 % amplifier
15 % guitar
20 % song
70 % you

total : 120 %

mesa-boogie helps a lot, they're just fantastic.

Gotta agree with Gimme Shelter, you'll have to tweak them knobs and keep listening until you find your sound.
AFAIK Keith used the earlier version and had Valve #4 taken out, then the graphic EQ plus hooking up with Ampegs....there's too many unknowns to set up an equation to get ya in the ballpark.
so I guess there is no short cut to his sound - go and find yours and trust your ears.

Well in that case, don't worry too much about the amp settings smiling bouncing smiley
