more like an alternate vocal take, the sessions for gimme shelter stated in early 1969 and the final version was completed in october 69 during that time mick may of tried a few different vocal approaches until he found one he liked

I find the bass intro (:22-:32) a bit 'arty' for the Stones; doesn't seem like a usual Wyman or Richards bass feel, but could be KR's doing. Heavily doubled vocals remind me of the alt. version of JJF with all of the "yeah"s at the beginning. Most all of the rest is the eventual released track's version.
