remained in a coma for a number of years ....At the time he was singing the line My heart is crying.....crying

I always felt Wilson's immortality was compromised by too many so-so 'pop' records that do no justice to his talent...

One of my favorites. "Stop Doggin Me Around" is unbelievable. I also love "To Be Loved."

I love that Wilson saw himself as a link in the chain of great singing showmen that reached back to at least the 1920's. He even put out a record in tribute to one of his major influences, Al Jolson. That chain went on to include Presley, as well as Mick himself.

I always tought that Jackie was emulating Elvis. I read a story once that described a scene where JAckie was performing and Elvis' people told him that he must go see this performer who was doing Elvis better than Elvis and it turned out to be Jackie.

I also thought that Elvis recorded 3-4 years before Jackie recorded the first of his hits.

"Higher and Higher" is one of my favorite feel good songs. Always gives me a lift (no pun intended).

Lonely Teardrops always got me, but I think he kind of went pop for whatever reasons over time.

Is there a real man behind Van the Mans masterpiece?

Not hardly. I don't think you can put Mick in the same league as those guys.

listen to his incredible version of "danny boy" and then tell me your jaw didn't drop to the floor....

It's hard to imagine that on a Stones site I found somebody who thinks that Mick Jagger doesn't measure up to Al Jolson as a performer. You might be right, and I might even reluctantly agree with you. However, I am surprised and would like to hear your thinking.
