TELL ME...what ?

Hi

I'm on this board mainly to read stories about the Rolling STONES and related.
There's a lot of people here, who are positive and who are very humble to share their great knowledges or stuff on our favorite Band.
Fun also as far as I know don't kill!spinning smiley sticking its tongue out
I'm not against the OT Threads but when there's more OT threads
that Rolling STONES threads, there's a problem!confused smiley

But come back to my thread :

There's some questions where you could find answers easily in the books, on internet, or in the Magazine.
Even if you are a Newbie, there's a few things to know about the Band before askin' for the 50th time the same question.
That's the reason why i think , some of you are bored of this kind of threads!
But we have to be tolerant, rather than agressive!
We all have to learn again and again each day.

Of Course, i'm not a saint (Hopefully),
but i wanted to say that everybody's here should be cool!

IORR is one of the best BOARD, good stuff to download ,
good friends to talk with and so on!

Don't let IORR get spoiled by some TROLLing Stones!

Center text makes me freak out... Still...
Good news I agree and I will clean out a lot more off topic posts.
I don't want IORR to turn into some sort of facebook/twitter variant.
Still, I do accept off topics, but within limits,
and mainly very important day to day or music related.
Or one odd what are you drinking per month or so...

Not the type of thread I would normally reply to...

As a fairly longtime user on this board, I see Honestman's point. Still, I feel like this has become a community for old and new users alike. Many of us on here have been posting for a while and have come to know familiar faces (or at least user id's) and we enjoy talking to certain people - and not always about Stones-related topics.

Here's my point - the reason there are seemingly fewer Stones-related topics is that there seems to be less pertinent Stones-related news as of late. With no new album, tour, or reissues (those Universal cash-ins are hardly discussion worthy IMO), it's probable that many of us just come here to converse about music-related topics in general. Granted, you can only post so many times about what beer you are drinking at the moment, or what you think about the new President or the latest U2 tour and so forth. But how many times can we come up with an interesting new spin on done and done again topics like "who played lead on what Stones song", "who was better Mick Taylor or Ronnie", "Did Keith really fall from a coconut tree", etc. etc.? So many of these topics have been done to death already I think. In fairness, for a new user, I can see how these subjects are fresh and less tiresome and fair game for people who want to share their own thoughts on a certain topic.

Anyway, I guess my point (reiterated) is that while it seems there are more OT topics than Stones topics, we're maybe just a tad bored and looking for something to talk about and many of us find this a comfortable and enjoyable place to share our thoughts with other users. Believe me, when there is some exciting new STONES news out there, it's just about all anyone talks about (as it should be). But for now there isn't much new and exciting Stones news, and maybe some of us are just trying to keep the dialogue here in the IORR community going, whatever the subject may be. But I completely agree in tolerance over aggressiveness for all topics! And let's all hope that the Rolling Stones DO give us something new and juicy to discuss (like a new tour, album, box set, what have you). But in the meantime, I still enjoy coming here once in a while to see what people are talking about.

Phew, sorry for such a long-winded response. Hope it made sense to some people, and a good day to all of you. smileys with beer

Ha - you're welcome friend. Thank you too. And, just for the hell of it, I happen to be drinking a Pabst Blue Ribbon from the bottle at this moment (and don't make fun - it's a much-loved brew here in Nashville!)

Lotta dots there, NICOS. As a (failed) English major in college, I must call you out on that.

And Honestman: are you a Beach Boys fan, or do you just like that song? (and is that too off-topic? winking smiley

I just saw an OT thread where a guy said he went jogging "with a nice lady by my side". Who gives a f uck! What does that have to do with the Rolling Stones, or music in general? If BV is going to start getting rid of OT threads, he needs to start with that one. Who on here, or anywhere, cares if you went jogging? That's just idiotic. Ugh!

Have to agree with you on that one. He didn't even put OT. I started a thread about the benefits of eating meat versus being a vegetarian last week. It was deleted within minutes. Yeah, this board has seen better days.

Hmmm...anyone know if the jogger was a vegetarian?

Vegan means no animal anything - milk, eggs, cheese.

Right? Vegetarian means...no walking land food or swimming seafood but milk, eggs and cheese is OK.

That's my understanding of it.

And Keith hates cheese. How funny.
