The boys recorded I Get Around, circa 1965.

It was recorded in 1964 on April 2nd and April 10th - and released on May 11, 1964

have you see them lately? with Mike Love, Jardine and Johnston?
they are comin´in July over here Tenerife, woth to see them ?

Million thanks
Carlitos
Tenerife

Jardine hasn't toured with them in over ten years (since Carl died). He and Mike had a falling out, but recently patched things up.

Patched things up? So does that mean Al has rejoined the touring Beach Boys?

'fraid not...but there are rumors of something happening for the 50th annivesary...

Here ya go, kids. Not the best sound, but you get the idea.

According to my archives, this was recorded in Waterville, Maine, in May 1973 (although some sources say it was March 73)...Blondie was still with them at the time.

The Beach Boys are boring. All their songs are the same! Seriously, Surfin' USA and Surfin' Safari are THE SAME SONG. They should've called them Surf Pt. 1 and Surf Pt. 2 (like Dance, hehe winking smiley).

The Beach Boys made simple music for simple people. The fact that a very small number of their songs is not simple doesn't materially change this fact. Their contributions to music will be forgotten after the people that lived when they were active have died.

overall this statement is wrong on every level

You can't deny the similarities between many of their songs (yes, I was exaggerating a little - but NOT about Surf Pt. 1 and Pt. 2). You can't deny that, save for a few exceptions, their songs are simple.

Whether you find them boring or not is, of course, a matter of opinion.

As opposed to complex music for complex people like, say, Skynyrd made?

LOL..yes the Beach 'boys', not the ludicrously named 'Our boys'...

the BBs music is anything but simple - when you get past the early surf/hot rod hits, on albums like Today, Pet Sounds (of course), SMiLE you'll find intricate 3 minute symphonies (to god) with barroqian complexities, chords that the Stones have never even heard of, exotic instrumentation and nary a guitar in sight (or earshot).

And that's even before you add the celestial 4, 5 or 6-part harmony vocals.

(of course the Stones didnt need complex chord structures when they could roll a G riff with such scandalous swagger).

listen to Cabinessence (1967) as an example of non-simple music:

and for some Stones/BB cross polination, try this:

Of all the criticisms to be levelled at Brian Wilson, making 'simple music' aint one of them.

as opposed the complex stuff the stones were doing at the time?

For some "non-simple" BW/BBs music, try "This Whole World" and "Til I Die"...very progressive for pop songs. When Don Was sat down to chart them, he was shocked to discover that the chord sequences progress so much that they are in no identifiable key. And then there's stories of professional musicians who "learned" what they thought were "simple" BBs songs to audition for supporting roles in the road band, only to be told the chords they "thought" they heard were wrong, and were in fact extreme over-simplifactions of the chords on the records.

The Lyrics of "Some Girls", seem a weird transfiguration of the verses of "California Girls".

I think Jann Wenner said about the same thing to Mick in '78...Mick replied that he "loved" that Beach Boys record.

The original Lynyrd Skynyrd's music is complex than people like to give them credit for.simply because they're from the south btw
Gregg Allman has commented that "Southern rock" is a redundant term; it's like saying "rock rock."
Because rock and roll, was invented in the South

yea, of course blondie chaplin is the great great connection beetween BB & RS,

Where did I hear Brian wilson discussing the Stones versus The Beach Boys...
And he gave the edge to the Rolling Stones instrumentally, but sided with the Beach Boys vocally

not very controversial. i think the beach boys were generally better surfers, too. but, i'd give the nod to the lads for abusing women....

The Stones were better with water jets... especially Brian Jones...>grinning smiley<

Interestingly, Dennis Wilson's great gospel-like "River Song" (first cut on his solo album "Pacific Ocean Blue") was used in the pre-show song mix played over the P.A. on the "Bigger Bang" tour. It seemed likely that Blondie suggested it, however I read on a BBs message board that someone asked him and he said he wasn't aware that it was being played.
