What 2009 Has in store for the music world

What are the big albums of 2009 going to be... when I started thinking about it, I realized it's gonna be a HUGE year

Aerosmith- New album is almost certain... gonna be a good classic rocker

Dave Matthews Band- Album on the way, featuring a new lineup with killer guitar from Tim Reynolds

U2- New album is on the way, likely a masterpiece

Third Eye Blind- New album certain, killer LP so far

Faces- I think its a possiblity.. who knows, I think they'll be more like The Police, we hoped they'd lay down new tracks, but they never did

Stones- Seems like a longshot, but an album is possible

Zeppelin- IF, and its a HUGE if, Robert Plant wakes up to the world, an album coinciding with a tour is possible.

Petty- Another Heartbreakers album? maybe

Springsteen- He'll lay down a new album, heck he's playing the superbowl, easy to feed off that

The Who- I think they'll find their way to a studio in 2009

Seriously, this is a lot of stuff on the plate, and im sure i missed a lot of big names as well. 2009 looks AWESOME. And these aren't even the upcoming tours we have in store

Thoughts...

The 40th anniversary of Woodstock will be held in my front yard ... don't take the brown acid. It's not poison, it's just bad.

nothing but "classic/oldie" rock has made your list-

which is rather sad, when you consider, all the great young artists and bands,
making exciting, fresh, music out there.

No Stones next year. Zeppelin will never do anything. The Who? Nobody cares if they do another album or another tour or...anything I think.

New Cult album though, with tours.

New Drive-By Truckers as well.

I'm with NICOS here. Look for some fresh stuff too. Yesterday I saw a metal band called Mastodon. They make some good albums, if you like it somewhat louder. They will have a new one next year. Good stuff.

A new Crows album would be great.

chris and rich also said something about doing a "brothers of the feather" studio album which would be acustic stuff that doesn't fit the black crowes style. too be honest i'm more excited about the new LIVING COLOUR album though, a band who is always on the cutting edge and pushing rock in a new direction. not sure if you are familiar with their work though other than the fact they opened for the stones and play on some of micks solo stuff

I fell asleep when Living Colour opened for the Stones. So I guess that tells you how interesting I find them.

She should spend less time lip-synching on shite tv talent shows,
and more time getting her house in order.

The ONLY "For Sure" albums (to the best of my knowledge) so far, for 2009 are -

U2 - "NO LINE ON THE HORIZON" out in early 2009

SPRINGSTEEN - TBA - out in January, 2009

Tom Petty's busy with his inferior MUDCRUTCH band and my only other point would be that keefriffhard4life might have 2 or 3 more (Annie Lennox, Living Colour) to add but that's about it. Rest is just pipe dreams and wishful thinking - 2009 is gonna be a sh*t year due to the deep recession/depression. Maybe Axl Rose will put out another new album - LOL, "North Korean Democracy"......when it rains it pours smiling smiley ....

Not quite rock n roll, but it's been 4 years since the last Daft Punk album.
That means it's time for a new one in 2009

The Archies
Sugar + 40 Reunion

Archie Andrews returns, minus Jughead Jones (who is still in prison);
and joined again by Betty, Veronica, and their eleven grandkids.

The Archies are updated in state-of-the-art 3D.

For me the best thing in years (musically) is Duffy. I find her album Rockferry more than excellent and her new songs on the Rockferry Deluxe version are as good as the "old" ones. I can't wait for new Duffy music. One of the best artists in many many years.
