What's the worst concert you ever saw? (Non Stones)

There are a few for me

1)Joe Satriani - This guy is nothing more than an endless bable of notes. Don't tell me how great he is. All physical and non musical. "geez how many notes can I play in 4 beats. I'll try and break my record of 187." Can't stand the guy's playing.

2) Aeorsmith in the late 70's. Twice. Sounded like a bunch of kids learning to play. I guess this was during their Toxic Brothers stage.

3) Ringo Starr and his first drunken All Star Band. Wow how loaded can you get before you play? This was at The Buffalo Aud in the early 80's. This was the band with Joe Walsh.

4) Kid Rock. What a joke! Talent? The guy sucks. Walked out around the 7th tune. Went home and watched Family Guy.

B.B. King in the early eighties.
20 minutes of his band playing, then B.B. comes on for maybe 40 minutes, then another 20 minutes of the band.
He played two shows (ticketed separately) like this in the same evening.
Yeah, he played well for the time he was on stage, but I left pissed off at being ripped off.
I will never pay to see B.B. again unless he's playing a festival.

Probably Aerosmith and Ted Nugent at Giants Stadium in 1978.

Worst club show I ever saw was three members of The Band (Danko, Hudson, and Manuel) playing their respective instruments of bass, organ, and piano. Try to picture that if you will. Try to imagine how that must have sounded. Bass, organ, and piano. No guitar. No drums. There were about 30 people in the club. I think at one point, I actually laid down on the dance floor and tried to take a nap.

I saw a stinker of a Ryan Adams show six or seven years ago. My buddy was a big fan and really talked him up beforehand. Even he admitted it was terrible.

Saw the Black Crowes a few months before they broke up. It was a Sunday night and Rich Robinson wanted to be anywhere except on a stage with that band.

My pal and I got free tickets for Molly Hatchett in about 1982. We were embarrassed for them.

the Doors - December 1968

A totally unanimated Morrison stood still at the mic for six songs, then sat down and read poetry for about 25 minutes. The poetry wasn't even that good.

Springsteen or Clapton...1984 or 1985. Both of them bored the daylights out of me.

A /Forienger/Def Leapord show I went to last year. my ticket was free So I really can't complain too much but MAN did they SUCK!!!!!

Actually Styx was the first act but I missed them because me and my friend were drinking beer in the parking lot. I heard some of it, I bet they were better than the other two bands.

What year was the Clapton show? I saw him in the mid-80s (I think),
and Phil Collins was on drums. Boy, was that a boring show.

Meatloaf. Either '77 or '78. I was tramatized both visually and aurally (not sure if I spelled that right). Fortunately, it was only a $1.92 for the "Catch a Rising Star" series at the Paramount Theather in Portland, OR.

The Police this summer is the first to come to mind. David lee Roth tour 85 or so was pretty bad. Rod Stewart 7 or 8 years ago about put me to sleep.

Smashing Pumpkins from their last tour. What a drag. Too loud and way too many jams. My wife and I wanted to leave half way through.

Bad Company. May 9, 1979. My fifteenth birthday. Front row. Boring. Pitiful.

Close second, The Police in the mid-eighties.

George Harrison at Madison Square Garden in December 1974. Dark Hoarse indeed. His throat was ravaged, and he felt compelled to change old lyrics for the worse ("Something in the way we move it," "In my life, I love God more," etc.). He had a band that seemed fine on paper (Andy Newmark, Willie Weeks, Billy Preston, Tom Scott, Jim Horn, Robben Ford, etc.), but churned out slick mid-70s lame-o arrangements. It's no wonder he was reluctant to tour again.

Dead Kennedys at Whisky a Go Go in 1980.
They showed us what chaos and anarchy were all about.
It was the worst, but memorable.

Bob Dylan - Wembley Arena 2007 (f-ing awful - left after five songs)
New Order - Wembley Arena 2006 (last London show - they broke up soon afterwards; no surprise)

The band at my friend Larry's Bar Mitzvah sucked!

Bob Dylan 2005. But I enjoyed his show this year, so he payed his dues.

I saw Bob Dylan about 20 years ago with Tom Petty, who I always enjoy live. Not a great show (but not the worst either)

Chuck Berry at The Rainbow Theatre, London in 1980. I was 17 years old at the time, & this was my 3rd ever concert, having in the previous months seen Bill Haley (very good) & Jerry Lee Lewis (amazing!!!). He did one minute versions of most of his hits (with no guitar solos), the backing band didn't have a clue, & he was so quite we could have a normal conversation a few rows back from the stage. Chuck was (& still is) one of my very favourite artists on record, but after this I swore I'd never see him again, & I didn't see him for nearly 20 years when I finally say him on the same bill as Jerry Lee / Little Richard in 1998 (pretty good), 2000 (at last, fabulous!) & 2004 (sloppy but fun).

I have to ask: why did you watch his show 5 times if he was so bad? Wasn't there a bar or somewhere you could go to?

Dan Reed Network opening for the stones in Oslo, 1990 (first show). Really horrible!

Must have been a Dire Straits concert from early/mid 90ies that I have recently watched on a transatlantic flight (a kind of "guilty pleasure"). Poppy arrangements, uninspired performance, awkward looks.
